This is how a mustang would look if Ford was actually passionate about cars. Unfortunately all Ford and Chevy does is bitch about Japanese makers having an unfair advantage of being able to produce cars cheap due the market value of the yen. This mustang looks great, the current one looks like one that started with a decent idea that turned into another bland looking Ford vehicle that I might consider buying if I was born in 1930 and was completely impotent. For all the 100,000 Ford employees who are being laid-off, if your company made cars like this you would still have your job. Minus those gay seats in this one of course.

“Oh, and all of you who think it’s just a ‘maro with Pony badge…what is the difference between a Chevy Avalance-and a Cadillac Escalade EXT? Man, all these egos are really getting in the way of you guys that think you know everything about cars…makes me laugh and reminds me how dumb people are.”
You sir, are an idiot… the reason Cadillac and Chevy or the Ford and Mercury look alike is because they are made by the same manufacturer, in the same plant, on the same chassis… THEY ARE THE SAME CAR… The Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang HAVE NEVER BEEN THE SAME CAR… if you’ve ever driven both you would know that and not have said something as retarded as that… if you mean “looked similar” in the sense that they have two doors and four wheels, then you’re right…just like saying a Chevy Corvette looks like a Dodge Viper… the Camaro and Mustang have always had their own individual styling features…
In case you didn’t know… here’s all the manufacturers and “who makes who” or “who owns/owned who”…

You guys are all on drugs for not loving this car. So it has some funky interior that looks like its from a horse-original and conceptual-goes with the car. The taillights resemble the old style (’04ish) with a futuristic twist-I don’t see anything bad about them? Isn’t the point of a “concept”-to be different from what other ideas are out on the scene? The Camaro, although Ford dominates it
, has a mean look to it. It is branching WAY off of the old style, but then again times are changing and people want new things. Just learn to appreciate stylistic advances, not ALL change is bad. Open minds think alike**. Peace
Ken
Dec 6, 2006 at 9:00 pm
It really isn’t that bad. It basically is a combination of the last two Mustang designs with an edgier, lower stance. It is not that radical, but I do agree that it looks like the new Camaro design which I think is awful!

Frankly I think that’s how the new design SHOULD have looked instead of the klunky retro thing they ended up with. The new Camaro and Challenger are going to show us how to do it better.

Dec 6, 2006 at 3:24 am
People loved their muscle cars that they owned when they were in there teens. They passed that love onto their children. That’s why the new retro-designed model of the mustang and even the newly redesigned charger and camaro have become so welcomed by people. It became reborn, but with a modern twist.
I don’t think this car would hold up in the market. Of course the super rich will enjoy it, but I don’t think this “Spaghetti Mustang” deserves the name Mustang. Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful car, but it should be given a new name and start a future of it’s own.

Dec 6, 2006 at 3:09 am
I think it looks good. Its an improvement over the corrent model. I have a 99 body style, so far, I think its the best looking one. With the new one, they actually put a C scoop in the side. It has the coke bottle shape like the classics and still has that fastback roofline. It looks more like a mustnag than any of the ones before it, except the origionals. I think the back needs work. It shouldn’t drop off like it does, there needs to be a rear deck. The tail lights are a bit too radical, they should be more rectangular instead of triangular in design. The bumper needs to be harder edged with the lettering in it like my 99. It also needs a spoiler on the back like the shelbys. I do like the way the back taillights blend into the top. Other than the back, I’d say great job! I’d get one, as long as its IRS and not live axle. It does look very similar to the new camaro. I think that camaro has an edge on it, except its interior doesn’t look as good as the stangs.

What the hell is it? Last I rememberd gull wing doors was on a delorean. I really hope this is one of those joke about it publicity stunts car companies always pull ’cause if the next gen Mustang looks anything like that I think i’d die, be reborn and die again. That thing is fugly!

Dec 6, 2006 at 2:51 am
I agree with Steven Iselt on this one, I think it looks like the ‘o6 Eclipse. I personally am glad to see that the mustang is not afraid to look like a tuner. I hate to sound like a 50 yr old man but with todays gas prices, we can’t afford huge muscle cars. The doors give the classic a sweet new function. Along with that, the fender flairs show the tuner generation that Ford hasn’t forgotten them. I love that the exhaust is integrated into the bumper, and the shape of the exhaust tips blows me away. From the inside of the car the window dome roof looks great but it would get realy annoying on a sunny day around noonish. The cow interior grosses me out a little bit but they might have wanted to go with an animal theme. Overall, the exterior is beautiful, very eye catching but on the otherhand, the interior leaves a lot to be desired. The smaller, sportier design will appeal to the younger generation while the older people who want to feel young will still want one. Everyone knows they get a little bit mad when they see some 80 year old guy driving a corvette roadster with his cheeks flapping in the wind and his comb-over hanging out the back.

Being a Classic Mustang owner, I have to say it stinks. Not that I’m against change, but it’s looks NOTHING like the Mustang that we know and love. I’ll pass on this one, looks like the 07’s will be the last of a era, and that’s sad if it happens.

Hmm, I like the front end aside from the headlights, but the side and rear look terrible. If you guys really want to see how they are supposed to be built, check out the Vitesse Autosports Mustangs. Along with Sean Hyland Motorsports, we built the prototype motor for the Falken Tires Drift Stang. Check out the gallery and see how a real mustang is supposed to look!!!

For those of you who think Ford is coping GM with the Camaro look, GET a life!!! Where is the Camaro now! Oh that’s right they havn’t made one since 02 because hmm maybe they were outdated and too much $$$$and Ford outsold them hands down. Atleast Ford is leap years ahead with an overhead cam engines vs the old push rod crap.
In my opinion if Ford goes with that look it will lose sales.

What were they on when they came up with this monstrosity.I am a fan of the old school Mustangs 1964-1973.And I think that Ford did an excellent job with bringing back the old school looks with the current one,but this particular Mustang looks like something that you would find at the bottom of a cereal box.Like the saying goes,”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

For those that think it’s a copy to the camaro,do some research first.Ford had drawings on paper before ‘05 that look similar to this design before the camaro concept ever came out,(You really think that they don’t have the next generation stang almost ready for production) and when ford got word on the new camaro, and saw it’s design, they got worried that some will think that they are copying GM once the ‘09/’10 stang comes out as it has similar “Q’s” as the camaro.Guess what, they are right,we again assume the wrong!!!
I personnally haven’t like much from them since the edge body (’99 – ‘04).This retro thing is getting a little to out of hand. The edge body was as retro as i would go,because it still had some modern visuals to it.But this would only be my opinion as we all have one.

love it! great!nice to see the coke body styling again, want one
stephen iselt
Dec 5, 2006 at 11:33 pm
it’s decent. you can see the body lines really say mustang but the roof looks to modern and round for a mustang. i’d get rid of the black and paint it the color of hte car the simulated side scoops also need to have a definite line where they end instead of fading back into the body. I love the front end, dont mess that up. back is no good, bumper dont look like it goes on a mustang and the bottom of the 3 bar tail lights need to be even insted of slanted. overall the main focus needs to be more retro themed and less modern trying to make a new statement. last thing i want so see is it loose the mustang look again!

Dec 5, 2006 at 11:26 pm
A cheap shot!
Look close and you see the 2009 Camaro. Ford knows it can’t do anything right, instead they decide to copy someone else that may have the “better idea”.
It is one thing to flatter someone, it is another to just plain be thieves and steal it.
Ford Motor Company, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Guigiaro hits another one out of the park! Just beautiful…
The design is still decidedly American muscle, but with a flair that gives it European panache. The glass roof recalls designs such as the new Ferrari Superamerica, or the Porsche 911 with the “Panoramic” roof. Very nice.
Kevin
Dec 5, 2006 at 10:27 pm
I like it, except the tail lights and the gull wing doors. It’s a concept and at best only portions of it will reach production. I think it’s curves are nice and not all mustang enthusiest are into the blocky look, I like both myself. The smartest thing ford could do with this is rebadge it as a lincoln or a mercury as they need some help, BIG TIME! It could sell as something othre than a mustang.

Dec 5, 2006 at 10:17 pm
You guys act like Ford can really compete with the foreign automakers if they DON’T let this concept happen…in my opinion it’s a nice design. Forget all of the retro crap done lately. It was/is a good ride, and eventually Ford will need to mix things up a bit. I hate it for you “old school” Ford fans who still think that the Taurus was a work of art, and the Escort was a masterpiece. I’ll be happy to see this produced and compete with the higher end models….FINALLY.

I read all the comments on in the link, and I am shocked that people like it. But I noticed that a lot of the people were non-ford customers, so that right there tells you this is a “Bold Move” by ford to become just like everyone else!
