You Get What You Pay For

As you can probably tell, I love featuring hacked up audio installs. And in my experience, the more expensive the car, the more hideous things get. Because with ten times the budget, you can make ten times the mess. Well, my buddy Jim owns Esoteric Sound and Performance, which recently won the Best of Cleveland award for place to pimp your car. So he’s got plenty of great stories about rides which have wound up in his garage after someone got in over their head.

Wondering just how bad things can get? See the image to the left. On this train wreck, Jim literally spent thousand of dollars—in parts alone—to return the vehicle to stock condition. Along with myriad electronic elements, he had to replace carpets, the head liner, door panels and pretty much everything the previous "installer" touched. Of course, when he’s not cleaning up messes, he does stellar work. Check out the 2001 Porsche Turbo on the left.
