MORE Impreza Shots!

Last Friday Rob showed us some pretty impressive renderings of the new Subaru Impreza STI, a design I welcome with open armsespecially since it’s a hatchback. Recently, new images have started popping up on the good ‘ol interweb, and these may actually be photos, not just renderings (although with today’s Photoshop skills, it’s hard to say). In these images, the headlights are much more aggressive, and the grille is a bit more proportional. However, I don’t dig the rear wing. That, I hope and pray, is a Photoshop. Sorry about the crappy image quality, these were apparently scanned in from some Japanese magazine.

They completely destroyed the sti’s design. The 2004 design was by far the best design. Then they changes the headlights and tailights and made it look like shit. Now they completely ruined the car. That thing looks like shit. Way to go guys. I wouldnt trade my 2004 sti for anything.

Like we need another car as ugly as a Ford Focus on the road. Subaru should have stuck to the drop dead gorgeous rally inspired sedans they’re known for and leave the horrible looking hatch to Ford.

Im not a fan of huge wings unless you have the power to back it up… meaning you can get to (and maintain) the speeds that you would actually need a wing of that size for down force… That being said im in support of that wing because just think how aweful it would look without that? Theres no other place to put it!! I could however do without the ugly 3 bumps in the center. Theres just no justification for that little bloop.

That back wing just doesn’t work. They should scratch that wing, and just come up with a new design. Sure, the giant rectangle is kinda the STi’s signature trait, but it just doesn’t work on the hatchback. Well at least not in the position. I hope they come up another “down force” idea before release.

I”m hoping that wing is just to show what the rally car will have. Subaru can’t honestly think that anyone in their right mind would want a blind spot like that. Maybe they should make it out of clear accrylic (sp) or something.

Front mask of this graphic seems to be quite striking, much better than the past three models! My only concern though is, if true, that there will be no sedan model in the new line up(cause I hate this hatchback rear view!!).
I was expecting this hatchback model to be a bit more like that of Mazda6 5-door(I’m talking about the rear view, there’s been that kind of rumor once in Japan).
