No Parking? Not Really, But We’ll Tow You Anyway!

When I was covering music for CitySearch, I used to ride my motorcycle to work. Fortunately, they had a lot, so I never had to worry about finding a spot. But some of my fellow bikers weren’t so lucky. A bunch of them used to park right in front of the office, on a small stretch of curb that had no meter or markings. This went on for at least six months, until one day the meter maids came by, painted the curb, and ticketed everyone. I thought that was pretty unfair, but it has nothing on this.
Apparently, some jerk in Brooklyn put up a bunch of fake "No Parking" signs—and the cops went ahead and towed people! The best part? The DOT is going to "try" to dismiss the tickets. Try? Are they nuts? Read the full story here.
