Driving Onto a Frozen Lake: Always a Brilliant Plan

My hair always stands on end when I hear of people driving out onto the ice: it just seems like such a moronic way to jeopardize your ride, and the results tend to be pretty predictable. Nevertheless, attempting to drive onto a brittle surface over deep, chilly water has always been popular: check out this TV news feature about a couple of kids who thought it would be neat to try it (so the theory goes) with a 1950 Ford coupe back in 1961. The video documents the recovery of the poor Ford, which was finally found last year, wedged at a steep angle into the bottom of Lake Waubesa, full of silt and skeletons. Rescuers expected the worst, forgetting that the coupe had been Built Ford Tough. Don’t be too surprised if it shows up on eBay as a flood car!

…Chilly waters….can you say PRESERVED? probably a better resto.
candidate than those on land…..(reminds me of the logs from Lake Superior that were pulled up after 100 years)
