To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the NYC Taxi, RIDES Magazine built this crazy hi-riser, which they are displaying at the New York International Auto Show. It’s jacked up forty inches and stands nine feet tall! RIDES claims it’s the biggest hi-riser ever built. We have another pic here.

I think its different. To me, its good to see something like this. Everyone is entitled to their own preference and this is a perfect example. Cars are meant to make the owner happy, not to please everyone else. If you don’t like it then thats your preference, but you don’t need to downright hate on the car. Maybe he didn’t want to be like everyone else and dump 20k into the engine. You see suped up muscle cars all the time, how many cars do you see sitting on 30″ rims? Even if it does look awkward it was meant to be different, and if you have to admit…if you saw this coming down the street you’d pay attention wouldn’t you? Even if didnt like it you’d be looking. So good job to the people who did this for being different, its good to see something out-of-the ordinary once in awhile!

I will have to agree with the guy 18′s or lower.I’m sorry that looks like shit, whats the point of raising a car when you are supposed to do it with a truck!30″‘s on a car is just plain stupid! Why spend all that money on those rims? When you can buy a whole bunch of performance parts put 17′s in the front 18′s on he back, make it an actual car.Rim manufacturers are just pushing it too far, I thought 22′s were big but now 30′s what the F*#$ ?

That’s crazy. Seems like a monumental waste of 20-30 grand but either way, if I were the cabbie i’d be swangin’.
