New Turbo: the Saturn Sky Red Line
Posted by: Jen AKA SuzyBruisy |
GM’s little roadster has always been a great thing in theory, but until now, the best way to get a Sky/Solstice with any power was to stand in line for one of those pricey LS2 conversions by Mallett. Starting next year, however, you’ll be able to get the ballsy Saturn Sky Red Line (and its Pontiac cousin, the Solstice GXP) with a 2.0L intercooled and turbocharged aluminum-block engine, in place of the base Sky’s non-boosted 2.4 L Ecotec. This little powerhouse will make 260 hp at 5300 RPM, and 260 lb-ft of torque at 2500-5250. It might not catch Mallett’s V8 Solstice, but priced at under $30,000, and giving up only two miles per gallon over the old 2.4 L, it’s sure to be a fun little summer ride.

Saturn sky crafted with a good quality of Saturn washer pump – http://www.satpartswholesale.com/saturn-washer-pump/ – and are really blew it when it comes to trunk space. I think they could have come up with a shelf for the top to rest on, which would at least have allowed for storage underneath it. Where am I gonna put my saturn body kits? Also, there’s no homelink or compass in the car, which to me are important items.

I have had a Sky Red Line for about two weeks. A fun car to drive, but I have been taking it a little easy as recommended in the owners manual for 800 miles. Correction to Jen’s Blog – the Red Line gas mileage is rated about 2 mpg BETTER than the standard engine, not worse. Price out the door with taxes paid is a little over $ 30,000 U.S. The only problem so far is a rattle in the dash board that I hope the dealer can fix.
