One of two futuristic concepts exhibited by Mazda is the Hakaze (which, they are quick to emphasize, is pronounced "hah-kah-zay"). The design aims to bring together the best of a number of possible worlds. According to its promo, "Hakaze combines the best attributes of three traditional types of cars. Part of the roof is removable, giving a similar feel to a roadster. It is agile and fun to drive like a compact hatchback. And it has a high hip point and interior functionality like a compact SUV." Hmm: identity confusion, or multi-functional design brilliance? I’ll leave that to you to decide. One thing for sure though was that in person, the Hakaze provided a pretty stunning visual.
