1961 Austin-Healy vs. Peugeot 306
Posted by: John "Just Lucky to be Here" |
I just love Top Gear. When are they going to bring it back to the US? It’s bloody criminal that we Yanks have to watch it on YouTube. Anyway, in this awesome "Hill Climb Challenge" segment, they pit a 1961 Frog-eye Sprite against a heavily-modified Peugeot 306. You’ll have to watch to find out who wins, but unfortunately, the embedding on the video was disabled at the request of the BBC. Click through and check it out. |

This is why the person fixing up a car has to choose for what he wants the car for. The Peugeot 306 would have smoked the 1961 Austin-Healy if he did not have so much shit for show in the car, too much dead weight. That’s why ony fix a ride for showoff or racing, uness you are really smart and lucky you can do both in the same car. But it would take a lot of money and time to get it right.

Although the host is obviously prejudiced against American vehicles, I still like the show quite a bit.
Also, hill climbs are sweet, I wish we had them here.

Top Gear is the best. I really like how they beat on the test cars. Did you all see the one where they took a Jag and a Porsche and drove them on the salt water sand bar? Great stuff….

This is just the greatest show EVER. Even just based on the sheer amount of awesome machinery they test its an awesome show, but then add that to the fact that these presenters are three of the best personalities on TV makes this an absolute run away hit. Theres a site that has nearly every episode aired called Finalgear.com, also has tons of forums and such definately check it out
