I Don’t Get It
Posted by: Rob Editor-in-Chief |
It’s car show season. So it’s time for those creepy kid dolls to be leaned up against bumpers again. I don’t get it. Why? When did this start? And why? Why???? The photo below (on Brian’s ride page) is from the future.

I searched all over and cant find any explaination or even where they can be purchased. I think the creepy cult theory fits best.

I guess only the lonely old guys put those things infront of their cars to attract old ladies who find them cute.

The polyfill in the fender wells I think some might tell you its to simulate smokin tires..The only true reason I could come up with is it covers up gaps around the body kit and fender flares. The only cars I have seen that done on at shows have large gaps to cover and hide. the gas, oil and water cans I have no idea. I agree just show your ride for what it is.

That doll in the pic is going to go blind if it continues to stare into the headlight.

THE REASON IT STARTED IS BECAUSE MEN BRING THERE WIFES TO CAR SHOWS AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE TO “DOLL” THINGS UP. CANT LEAVE NOTHING WELL ENOUGH ALONE.

I feel so much better…I always see those stuipd things at shows(even a NOPI event), but I never asked ‘why’. I always felt a little embarrased that maybe it was something every car buff would know what it’s about and I was somehow out of the loop cause I didn’t. Even if it was something like that, I would never bring myself to even touch one of those ‘chucky dolls’.

It would look good with them under tha front tire I got to admit. Those things are freeky, I bet it’s some underground cult that uses those creeps to identify themselvs to other cult members, that’s why you can’t buy them…

LOL, I remember the first time I ever saw one I was about 11 or 12 and my grandpaw had one and and I was like what you have this for? Didn’t get it then and don’t get it now… My grandpaws ‘Lil Mechanic’ eventually made its way to the car/bike shows he attended…

About the only reason I can figure is to make you stop and look. I think it’s like a “made ya look” thing. I’m not totaly sure on that, there may be some other reason, I could be wrong. If your ride is tight enough you don’t need some creapy doll to stop spectators at a show. I have found that a 20″ monitor in the dash does it alot better. Check me out let me know what you think. Let me know if I’m wrong
