Honda Civic: Generations 3 and 4

With its combination of reliability and fuel economy, the Civic proved popular across the globe, and the third generation was introduced in 1984. The biggest changes were the longer chassis and the availability of a new 12 valve, 74 horsepower motor, but several different body styles were available, including a three-door hatch, four-door sedan and the "Shuttle" wagon. There’s no shortage of third gens on the site, with everything from SPL monsters like Chris’ and  Moe’s , to race-prepped pocket rockets like Tom’s and Mike’s.  And don’t miss the radical transformation of Angel’s ride. Yup, that’s an ‘87 under all that bodywork.

For the fourth generation, Honda again stretched the wheelbase, tweaked the sheet metal and added more power. Of course, Honda’s in-house tweaks don’t compare with what Jon has done to his ‘88—check out the aggressive body kit and wicked orange paint—P’s ‘89, or Mike’s ‘91. By comparison, the exterior mods on Eric’s ‘90 are a bit more subtle, but he’s focused more on the business end of things, performing a full motor/tranny swap and adding a turbo on top of it. One thing that definitely isn’t subtle is Jake’s ‘88 derby car. But then again, there’s nothing really subtle about a demolition derby, is there?  Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post, when we’ll focus on the fifth and sixth gens.
