Street Racers Face Crushing Losses in SoCal
By John
Community Editor
If you’re street racing in Southern California, look out. This Seattle PI article has all the details on a new plan that’s leaving piles of broken glassand plenty of broken heartsin its wake. In a effort to stop illegal street racing, the cops down there are straight up crushing cars of people caught in the act. Personally, I think that you have to have rocks in your head to race on the streetthat’s what tracks are for. But this is going, way, way, way too far. In some cases, they aren’t even waiting to catch people racing, just having a busted tail light or hanging out at a place "where local racers gather" is enough legal ammo for them to throughly investigate every nut and bolt on your ride. If they find a missing serial number on any part, that’s it, your ride is taken to the crusher. I wonder if this gives the cops legal authority to search, say, every car at Hot Import Nights?

Uh, in case nobody paid attention to the REAL articles, ALL of the cars crushed had stolen parts on them, or had serial numbers shaved off of their engine (usually a telltale sign of a stolen engine) or in the case of the R32 was illegal in the U.S. because you cant register it, so therefore you cant prove that it belongs to you.
That is the ONLY way they can crush your cars, but they try to cover that up and make it sound like they can just crush your car for racing, they cant. But if you think thats why those cars were crushed then they hope it will scare you into not racing.

Not that i give a shit about street racers and their souped up tricked out whateverthefuckyoucallit killing machines, I feel that the communist citystate has no right to do what they will with your privately owned property. Sounds like someone in this corporate american citystate is jealous that some young punk has a nicer ride than they do. If you race your car in public you should have your license suspended progressively for each offense (3 months, 3years, indefinitely) In no way whatsoever should the fascist govt be able to confiscate your property. Drunk drivers should be arrested and their license susepended indefinitely. Even though you broke the law, You still have rights.

i agree with chris all these stars getting off easy for things us normal citizens would be in jail for months or everything taking away from us just beause we dont have fame and money so why should our cars be taking away and crushed just because it seems like a street racing car. it could be just a show car people do make them just for show not everyone makes them to race. i agree street racing is illegal but also not everywhere has a track and its not open anytime during the day or night but that does not give the police the right to take ur car and crush. maybe impound it but not crush it. i hope someone that has had their car crushed bring the police, city officails to court to put them to justice make them lose their job for what a crappy job they have done some government people are just retarded like BUSH a perfect example im sure some lawyer or someone that is in the law business can find something to prove they are breaking a law or right of some kind so good luck to yall if u try this wont hurt to try either. wat they gonna put u in jail for practicing a right? screw them hope they lose their jobs thats my opinion in this

I understand fining someone for racing, maybe putting them in jail for a night or two, but crushing their cars? That’s way over the top. Granted, they shouldn’t be weaving in and out of traffic in the middle of the day, but you shouldn’t crush their cars. It’s funny how they crush peoples cars for racing, but Mel Gibson is caught drinking and driving and he gets a slap on the wrist. WTF? I’m just glad I live in Indiana.

Sounds like the Cali cops are smoking too much weed!! Why not just confiscate the cars , sell them at auction and use the proceeds to actually HELP someone! Homeless, seriously ill, underemployed, there must ben a few of those in the ridiculous state of California

I think the cars that are actually getting crushed are the ones that have stolen parts in them. But then again I guess if you put $20,000 into your car, having it crushed is the same as a $20,000 fine.
If it is the case where any person caught racing gets their car crushed, it doesn’t seem exactly fair. Someone may have a $2,000 car, someone else may have a $50,000 car. It’s not the same punishment.

If all these people are spending thousands of dollars on their cars, then they can pay the few dollars to race at a track….for all of the fools that are posting about the government needed to fund race tracks, you are out of your mind!! it is not the government’s responsibility to build race tracks..they need to use that money to pay for other programs (like paying for police officers to arrest street racers so that their cars can be crushed)….it all boils down to cars wouldn’t be crushed if no laws were broken

….you see people…its all about the benjamin’s….the (republicans) Feds dont pay the States the money they need to run the cities, so the cities have to get cash out of the people somehow to pay their salaries. People only want to pay for results, so the cities have to find SOME way to show they doing SOMETHING to fight crime, hence this video, and why instead of allowing more legal race tracks to be built, they would rather play stormtroopers and go after the people the least able to fight back, – the younger people who make up most of our community.
What really needs to happen is to dump cheapass conservative republicans, elect people who will spend some tax money to build race tracks or at least let us use old airport runways like the WAY OLD days……
all freedoms spring from the same source – your will to fight for it.

This is overboard. Yes, street racing is dangerous, and yes people die in accidents because of it… but I think it’s safe to say that more people die as a result of drunk-driving, and we don’t see their cars getting crushed. Why? Because MANY more people do it. It’s much easier to pick on a very visible minority, like street racers. Give us a place where we can race for free that’s NOT the street, and you eliminate the danger to others with none of the drama. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

This shit makes me sick. I have no problems with street racing as long as it is done in a controlled environment. It is time they stop trying to stop us, and give us what we want a place to do it locally on the cheap. I say it is time to take the power back from these pigs. It is time to see how they like spike strips, how they like their cars booted, it is time to fight fire with fire and show them we mean business.

Wow. I have no idea where I stand on this. Street racing needs to be stopped for sure. But what exactly is street racing to them? A car accelerating quickly from a stop light or speeding? They should make more tracks and change this car crushing thing to hefty impound fees and more than an overnight visit to jail. Just my 2 cents

wow. The fox vid crushed at least 3 dollars and 10 cents there. I love the idea. I got away with 160’s over 10 years ago. The thought of 10000 rpms, no concern for cars behind you or folks around you with exhausts by themselves enough to get legislation to impound til fixed, baby brain damaging nitrous and laughing the whole day through needs some serious discipline. My crazy retard days at least had a 3500 lb car swaying around rather than the midget fantasy trying to fulfill a past that will never come back. Give it up or get it crushed. I love it.I guarantee 99% of it is ricer.

While street racing is fun yet extremely dangerous this is pretty outragous. The main reason I’m commenting? I don’t care what you do outside my neighborhood but as soon as you come racing through my neighborhood, regardless of WHAT you are driving, you WILL find a rock or something to throw at you to damage your ride. If you don’t want that to happen I suggest you don’t do it in the first place. I know for a fact I am not the only one who feels this way. Worse yet some innocent kid will happen to run out in front of you and you will have to live with the fact that you have killed a CHILD. This is the COLD HARD TRUTH. If this will actually stop people from being stupid I say more power to them!

I agree this is a bit wrong. However, if your going to mod the car take it to the track. And if Cities and States want to do something about it give the kids a place to race. Make racetracks and all those other things…

Alfred – What does this have to do with Communism? I never knew Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were proponents of the automotive subjugation of teenagers and young twenty-somethings who’ve replace reality with The Fast and the Furious. I understand the adrenaline one gets when racing on the street, but there’s too many assholes who stopped racing on blocked off sections of highways or barren, ne’er traveled roads at 1:00 in the morning. Instead their racing in traffic, and not the front of the line drag racing from one stop lights to the next (and that’s it), but weaving in and out of traffic like it’s Carmageddon grand prix.

THIS IS AWESOME, THIS WILL TEACH THESE LITTLE FUCKERS TO TAKE IT TO THE TRACK. STREET RACING JUST DOESN’T PUT YOUR LIFE IN DANGER BUT THAT OF EVERYONE AROUND YOU. THERE ARE KIDS IN THESE OTHER CARS YOU JACKASS’S ARE FLYING PAST AT A 160MPH, GROW UP AND USE ALL THAT MONEY THAT YOU USE TO BEEF UP THAT FOUR BANGER AND SAVE SOME OF IT FOR TRACK FEE’S. Alfred: You are absolutely RIGHT, but don’t expect integrity from scrap yards. All they see is business opportunities. If some rich crazy person came on site and told any one of them to crush his or her brans-new bentley, I bet 99% would warm up the crusher with cash in hand.

ok, ive heard of getting your car impounded with a hefty fine (check out the law statutes in oakland, ca) but OMG, freaking crushing a car for “street racing?!” cops try to constitute “street racing” when over revving at a stop light, or being careful but showing off to a friend.

Don’t just show up and watch your car get crushed. Show u8p ready to do something about it.
A big fuck you to the piece of shit wrecking yard that agreed to crush them for the gestapo also. I wouldn’t buy one fucking part from the scumbags that help police in this kind of communist bullshit.
There is such a thing as integrity. Anyone who crushes one of these cars can just say no. Make the piece of shit cops buy their own crusher. See how the taxpayers like that.

I used to like Schwarzennegger. He was a role model, I guess. If this had his stamp on it, I’ll set fire to his movies in my driveway and post it on Youtube. I suggest other cardomainers do the same to send a message. THIS IS WRONG.

Crushing racers’ cars in California, Pulling people out of clubs in Texas – for having a few drinks – without them even thinking of having left yet or any proof they intended to drive…
Examples of this kind of insane legislation pepper the country. Eventually, we will ALL be treated like kids, in a permanent state of Probation.
This country is becoming less and less of the America it should be. It’s completely repulsive.

I think it’s funny more than anything. Because they are shutting down local strips and not giving kids an outlet, of course that’s not the only reason kids race, but it is one. This ownt stop anuone though, they are just crushing the slow ones, the cars will only get faster and people will run harder.
