insane. One wiff of chemistry, pull over and shut car off. Check the left front and back of cyl head often.See any strange colors stand back have it hauled off get on a bus or a plane and put that car into the silent abyss forever, where it should have stayed. Don't you have a mechanic friend with good advice? I can't help but wonder an "anti" in good judgement. That car is in my top ten deadliest jackasses non-repairable of aLL of AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY. Your crazy for attempting it. I guess cardomain is here to promote all good and evil. I wish I didn't find this blog.Good luck to you, and truly take heed to my advice. It is a physics monster just by existing. Snip an egr system out of a 25 year old subaru and drive drive drive if you want a real safe trip back and forth across the continent infinitely with a 1.8 liter masterpiece.I get the hee bee gee bees just looking at that satanic killer called a ford escort.

What's your intended route? (I never had a problem with Vapor lock in Colorado in my 1968 -but elevation is a lot higher here than in NYC - Stop in to an old school garage -If you go through Kansas, I can give you 2-3 -and have them set your carb) There's plenty of cool places, but it's all going to depend on how you get there.
