Missoula, Montana: Junkyard Heaven

I got seriously sidetracked in Missoula when my pal Austin, who I know from the Escort Racing Development Team forum, introduced me to what’s quite possibly the coolest junkyard I’ve ever seen. Of course, having lived in the East for so many years, I’m not used to seeing many old cars at the bone: even Harry’s at Hazleton, my previous favorite, finally bulldozed most of its vintage tin into rusty oblivion a few years back. Not so at Missoula Auto Salvage, where even the Corvair rates a whole section of its own. As does the Escort: there were probably upwards of 30 first-gens, where I’m used to seeing only two or three at most. I could easily have spent the whole day here, and it’s probably not such a great thing that I’m coming through Missoula again in a couple of weeks with a U-Haul trailer.
