$2007 Challenge

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

The Grassroots Motorsports $2007 Challenge is approaching rapidly. The three-day event will run from October 4 to 6 at Florida’s Gainesville Raceway. Last year CarDomain member MiataMe got 32nd overall. Not bad for a first try!

Never heard of this event? Here’s the basic summary from the GRM website:

Have you ever wanted to go racing? Realized it was too expensive? For the 8th time, we’re challenging our readers to buy, build and race a car on a budget. The rules are simple, just spend $2007 on a car that can drag race, autocross and be concours judged.

You can read the official rules here. I had no idea you could run a Zamboni in this event. Maybe these guys will be interested.

If you have questions, take them over to the GRM message board. If you want to compete, you better register soon–registration closes September 1! And if you are building a car for this event, be sure to document the build on CarDomain! Then leave a comment in Chris’s guestbook and we’ll make sure your Challenge car gets listed on the $2007 Challenge page in the GRM group.
