Besides… You think oil only gets turned into gas or heats houses? It makes plastics, propane, etc.

The oil companies would still be going strong, only without having absurd profit margins and a stranglehold on the public because they don’t address their supply chain issues properly.

If (and unfortunately I mean “if”) someday alternative energy cars hit the road that don’t use gas: 1. there will still be gas-powered cars on the road, going to the pumps. 2. the price of gas would go down, considerably 3. the economy would take off, because personal spending would increase for those who drive (although they should be saving more) 4. any displaced petrol workers would have a better economy to find jobs elsewhere 5. the amount of greenhouse gases released might actually decrease, possibly having a positive effect on global warming (if you believe cars contribute) 6. with the demand for foreign oil decreasing, terrorists would have less valuable targets where the oil comes out of the ground. Presently, a successful attack could send gas prices up. How far, nobody knows for sure. 7. World Reliance on crude oil decreasing would mean unstable countries where the oil comes from would have less of a volatile effect on economies worldwide.

There are other benefits, too. Fewer days of the year with unsatisfactory air quality, etc.

None of this is B.S., so if some oil workers hit the unemployment line, TOUGH.

Even those who stick to the gas cars would be thankful for cheaper gas!

Um if they make Hydro cars the whole economy would mess up because of Gas/Petrol Stations. It’ll put a lot of people out of jobs and make it bankrupt, they gotta figure a different way. Either that or charge money for water haha.

Hydrogen is also lagged by the horrendous infrastructure upgrade – nationwide – while electric cars would require a new electrical service upgrade.

COOOL… and the best part about Hydrogen is that the Auto Industry can keep manufacturing vehicles at least as complex as the ones on the road today, so that the dealerships preserve their greatest source of revenue (service dept.)

Hydrogen is closest to today’s technology, only cleaner. That’s why the auto industry seeeeems like they’re interested in it.

I think expecting auto makers to actually go green in the forseeable future is like a hooker expecting to marry her next ‘john’.

Fairly unlikely.

Well, now we know that hydrogen can truly power a car to respectable speeds.
