Rare Bird

From 1977 to 1979, Pontiac put out a series of special-edition Firebirds in cheery colors with color-matched pastel interiors. In an apparent bid to attract female buyers, the Skybird, Yellowbird, and Redbird also sported a subtly pretty pinstriped bird graphic on the C-pillar instead of the overbearing firechicken normally plastered across the car’s hood.  Today, these powder-toned Firebirds look totally chic, but they were rare to begin with and very few remain.  Fortunately, CarDomain member Fierce Luke has a numbers-matching ’77 Skybird ready for a thorough resto.  I can’t wait to see how this project turns out!

What a sweet car – talk about rare! I had the chance to buy one 30 yrs ago off the lot – been kicking myself ever since. Not the man that got away, but the car. Six months ago I FINALLY bought a near mint condition one w/original paperwork owned by a now 82-yr old gentleman for a sweet price. I’m counting my lucky stars I’ve finally found my soul car. I wonder just how many are left? We’ll never know the answer. It was just meant to be. Keep me posted on yours?
