IQ and Good Looks Don’t Always Go Together

By Jen

I’m usually one to stick up for ugly cars, but Toyota’s really pushing the envelope with their new IQ Concept, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Jalopnik had some choice words for the homely little micro, comparing its appearance to all manner of undersea life.  Maybe we should give Toyota the benefit of the doubt, because the reasoning behind this pocket-sized commuter seems sound: a well-advised effort to capitalize on the growing success of other miniatures like the Smart car. But I can’t help thinking that the design team at Toyota must’ve put their heads together and asked, "Ok guys, if the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man had a favorite rubber ducky, what would it look like?"

Whoa!

I like it. The back end looks a lot better though.

Even though this thing is ugly enough to trick-or-treat over the telephone (larry the cable guy anyone?) it’s still better looking than the smart car. ugh…

I’m blogging with people young enough to be referencing Pokemon?

God I’m out-of-date. Better bit my lip if I have Popeye or Little Lulu zingers come to mind…
