Nailed!

I’ve seen some weird tire damage, but this is pretty crazy. The guy who had this happen removed the nail and claims everything is peachy. I dunno… You can read the whole thread over at NASIOC.

Sidewall is compromised there’s no doubt about it. In town driving for a little while, maybe, but no long trips with the tire. *thumbs down* But it is a low-pro tire so there is a little more rubber (not much) than something taller.

Ive had some gouges on my tires before and most of the time i was told that they look worse than they really are, apparently the sidewall is supposed to be able to take somewhat of a beating before you compromise the integrity of the tire.

You guys got this all wrong. His car is being “rebelious” first its Nail piercings then its Vynil graphics… next thing you know there in the shop for abusing Ethanol. New cars these days.

Ugh… it might be “ok” as in not leaking air, but what about damage to the strength of the tire? Seeing stuff like that just makes me a little queasy somehow…
