The Three F’s
By David
GRM Editorial Director
No matter what the level, it’s racers who almost always get the glory. The crew comes in a distant second. No one ever thinks about the officials and track workers, especially at the amateur level. Without these workers, we don’t race. Someone has to call the cars to grid, clear the track after a wreck, and keep the show running on time. Very few are paid. Most get to the track on their own dime.
I just got back from the NASA Championship at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and NASA official John Lindsey said their crew always strives to follow the three F’s: fair, firm, friendly. I didn’t get to see every NASA official in action, but all the ones I saw seemed happy to be there. Next time you’re at the track, thank these folks for a job well done.

Funny you should notice that car. I did a photo shoot on that very car for a future issue of our magazine. Seriously. It’s powered by a 3400 V6.
