Car vs. Scooter. Ouch.

I learned to ride dirt bikes when I was a little kid, on my buddy’s farm. And by the time I graduated to street bikes, traffic wasn’t an issue, since I was living out in the sticks. So it was a pretty rude awakening when I moved to Seattle. Dealing with the constant traffic and the Emerald City’s notoriously awful drivers made it feel like I was learning to ride all over again, and it was quite a while before I was comfortable enough to take a passenger. One of the first things I learned about urban riding? Don’t ever, ever, think a green light means a clear intersection. All it takes is one dude blowing a red light to send you to the hospital—or your grave. Just check out what happens when this dude on the scooter gets clipped. Ouch.

That man on the scooter was lucky. You may feel stupid at first wearing a helmet on a scooter, but I would rather feel a bit stupid that go to an early grave.

Damn people not stopping for red lights! The only good thing that car did for rider was to cushion his fall on the way down. Not sure how bad the outcome was, but the biker was moving at the end :S

These kinds of accidents are sober reminders not only of the defensive nature a rider must have on the road but also that just because you ride a a little old scooter doesn’t mean you don’t need to consider helmets, gloves, and other protective gear. Not sure how fast these two vehicles were going in the video but even at 25 MPH you could get a similar result.

Yeah ditto. At first it looks like the guy is not real until he moves his arm. I’d hate to see his road rash.
