Audi A1 Multimedia Phone Revealed!

Details have emerged on the phone mentioned in our Audi A1/Metroproject post! Here’s what we’ve learned: The phone fits into a docking port which allows it to interface with the vehicle’s multimedia system, and it’s designed to function like the MMI systems in current upper-end Audis. Alone, the phone is a phoneduhwhich features Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity as well as an MP3 player and navigation. But it also does a lot of other cool stuff, like report the security system status, lock or unlock your doors, and remote start the vehicle. The last feature is particularly cool, because if it’s freezing cold or boiling outside, you can adjust your climate controls so the car is comfy as soon as you hop in. The full-color touchscreen also offers handwriting recognition, and can display photos taken with the vehicle’s on-board camera. Thieves might want to think twice about trying to steal this car, as that camera is integrated into the security system. If the alarm is tripped, the car will snap a photo of the intruder, send it to you, then initiate the location-tracking systempretty pimp! Get more details over at Motor Authority.

I love that this is actually very functional with the car. Unlike the Ferrari phone that just looks nice. Hopefully more auto manufacturers will jump on this idea soon.

Wi-Fi. Now that’s cool. More phones should have Wi-Fi in them. Then I would compromise my Palm Pilot with my phone…
