This Just In: New on the Net

It’s Friday, everybody! The calm before the weekend storm. Got any plans? No car work for me this weekend, but I am going to a Halloween party. Here’s my costume. Simple and scary. Now here’s the news:
- Baby boomers now have another option to spend that hard-earned Social Security money that I’ll never see: Classic Design Concepts (CDC) is offering custom 1967 Mustangs and will have four primo examples on display at SEMA. (Stangnet)
- Chrysler may get $46 million in tax breaks for re-tooling a Detroit factory responsible for producing their Jeep Commanders and Cherokees in order to make it ready to produce new replacement crossover models. I wonder if they’d kick me a few bucks to re-tool my garage? (Freep)
- Nissan is going into battle against Tata, the Indian car manufacturer developing a $2500 compact car for the Indian car market, with their own $2500 design. Nissan is also investigating the possibility of bringing this Tata-fighter to the US and Europe as well. However, the price would likely go up a bit in order to meet international safety standards. (World Car Fans)
- And if you happen to be in San Fransisco this weekend, make sure to head over to Folsom Street to check out the illegal soapbox derby races. If it’s anything like the Red Bull Races we checked out in Seattle a few weekends ago, this is sure to be an event not to miss! (Winding Road)
