New ‘Cuda!
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief

It looks like Chrysler is considering building a new ‘Cuda in addition to the 2008 Challenger. The Mopar crew was very tight lipped about it–I assume more will be revealed in the official press announcement tomorrow afternoon. Sorry for the bad pics, it was dark over there and I was tripping on all the equipment that was lying around as they set up. See a ton more pics on the SEMA Group Page! And here are some walkaround videos–video 1, video 2, video 3.
Edit: Here’s the latest scoop. After a night drinking at the Hard Rock with some Mopar insiders, we learned that this car was funded by a wealthy Mopar fan. It’s built on a shortened Charger chassis and Mopar put it in the booth to gauge public reaction. And speaking of that, where were you people? More on the ‘Cuda above.

This will not be going into production. It was made for an individual buyer.

COnsidering how fucked up the Charger was when it came out looking like the Magnum without the wagon ass on it, Or the 300’s looking like the Magnum as well… Dodge is doing a very healthy job of destroying the classic’s in a very short time… At least the could have badged the cars different to save face sine they don’t really compare to the old school at all…

I see what some people are saying. One this thing would have to come back as a Chrysler because Dodge wouldnt have the same car twice. Second the front end came off way to narrow and because of bumper laws they gave it that goofy chin look. The back is something to be desired too. Its to much of a slope, and there should not be a gas tank filler in the middle. It does look like a Mustang like Sean said. Try again Chrysler or dont try at all.

Only one problem. Just like the Challenger, it has those big “COON” wheels on it.

P L Y M O U T H ? ‘cuda?
How are they gonna pull that off?
I’d change a couple things by changing the carbon fiber to flat black, change the wheel well bulges and the quarters look a little feminine.
Oh, yeah, and add a billboard stripe.
A little more testosterone and It’ll be perfect.
But the ‘cuda is a Plymouth, but I guess beggers can’t be choosers.
I still can’t believe we let those Germans scrap the Baddest brand name in muscle cars ever. P L Y M O U T H.
Keep in mind, this is coming from a die hard, old school Mopar guy, not a generation ricer so some of you may not understand.

They definitely have to do something with the interior so it’s not as bulky and cheap looking.

Wow the texture on the hood, spoiler and back plate are really cool looking. Is it carbon fiber or is it just a V shaped texture effect! Regardless, it looks great!

It would be great to see all these classics brought back (when in doubt, do something that was already a hit, right?) but for some reason, all these revivals kinda look the same to me. They’re going to need to differentiate a bit if they’re going to be able to sell a bunch of these things!
