Show car or not, if the thing is EVER driven on public roads in traffic, it needs to be safe. I don’t care how much money you dropped on your wheels, or how high the lift is… I don’t even care that you’ve bastardized a Mustang (a dime a dozen car that isn’t all that great even when its done RIGHT) What would matter to me if I lived anywhere near where that thing was driven is if I’m going to be injured or killed because the dumbass behind the wheel spent too much money on his wheels to think about how to stop the car in a reasonable time/distance. The thing that seperates good car builders from hacks is that they take EVERYTHING into consideration. Their cars not only look cool, but they function properly as well. Pretty much anyone can spend a bunch of money and make something look cool or different. It takes someone special to be able to accomplish something cool, different, AND functional. I am a car-guy, not a paper-weight guy. My hat’s off to you for doing your own thing and building a car that YOU like, just don’t forget that the road is EVERYONE’s place, therefore everything should be done that can be done to make it as safe for everyone as possible.

I can understand your fear. If I had the car of my dreams (’68 Shelby GT500KR), I wouldn’t take it out either. For one, the insurance is like an arm and leg on a car like that and like you said the paint’s too expensive. I do like your paint by the way.

First of all, why can’t anyone on here speak intelligently? Its nearly impossible to comprehend what everyone is trying to say.

But on the topic of the Mustang, it is definitely not my taste, but it is not up to me. I give the man credit for being original. The majority of people on this site who call themselves car enthusiasts just copy every other car they see. This industry and hobby is centered on originality and innovation, so i think it is much better for someone to try something totally different and stick out of the crowd than to just become part of the crowd. Modifying cars is about representing yourself, and if this is how people choose to do so then good for them. And anyone who calls someone stupid, or their kids stupid, for having an original idea, is more ignorant than anyone. Have an open mind people!

I think certain cars shouldn’t be Hi-Riser, maybe people need to try more old pickup trucks or suv’s to be Hi-Riser because of the body style…….

I understand that people customize to suit their own tastes and I typically applaud those who do things innovative and “Monster Garage” style. A Ford GT, for instance, might not be made to be a rock crawling 4×4, but I had fun watching the Monster Garage team take one and make it just that. My only hitch when I judge a car is function over form. The Monster Garage team made the GT climb rocks first, then they worried about eye candy. Donks typically have this all wrong. I see so many with terrible handling, the brakes don’t appear to compensate for the added rotational weight, and in general, the whole engineering principles set BY EXPERTS are thrown out the window. In my opinion, not only are Donks ugly, they’re an unsafe fad that will fade (like the van craze) a few years from now. Speed and performance on the other hand are a mainstay. HOTRODS 4EVER!!!

Way to ruin one of my favorite cars. Honestly what is that car even good for like that now? Well motor sports are out for sure, any type of auto cross or normal driving where curves are anyway in the path of that, will be a problem. Even drag racing is out because you will break an axle because of the size and weight of those ridiculous and ugly wheels. Really what is the point to lift a car anyways? Buy a truck or an suv if you wanted to do that. By the way if you think that doing this to this poor car will make you look cool and show you have money well, at least now people know you have money but they can plainly see you have no taste or idea of how to use it. By the way this has to be the dumbest fad I have ever seen come to any type of motoring I hope it dies out soon so we can get Mustangs, Impalas, Monte Carlos and other classics out of peoples hands that do things like this and into hands like Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington who know how to save and sometimes improve a classic.

Im into donks, boxes, bubbles and lowriders. But that Mustang is just an ugly car to begin with. Also I think they lifted it a little too much. I like it when the lift sits just a little above the wheels, and that lift in the front is abuot 6 inches from the wheel.

Wow that car is crazy. What made you want to put 26 inch rims and a 15 inch lift on 65 Mustang. You definitely killed the classic part of the car. You should of just restored it to its original look. If you are going to screw a classic car up, you should of done it to a crappy 70′s caddy. The only thing I like about the car is the paint job. I admit the paint job would look good with some classic looking racing wheels. I hope you reconsider what you did to this car and decide to take the lift and huge rims off and make the car look normal again. Plus the gas milleage must be horrible with the size and weight of those 26′s. Im glad Im not the one who has to pay for gassing that thing up. Did you do anything to the interior of the car.
