The Aptera: 300 Miles Per Gallon?

While the Aptera looks like something out of a Star Wars flick, the company is currently accepting deposits, and plans to begin delivering vehicles to customers a year from now. On their website, Aptera claims its lightweight construction and hyper-efficient aerodynamics will allow for a 120 mile range for plug-in models, and that diesel/electric hybrids will be able to achieve up to—get this—300 miles per gallon. Like the Corbin Sparrow, the Aptera has three wheels, so it’s allowed to be registered as a motorcycle. Personally, I just don’t like three wheeled vehicles—they don’t seem right. Think about it, are there any animals that naturally have three legs? It’s about time states start providing a category for experimental vehicles, so cutting edge technology doesn’t have to slide through the motorcycle loophole. Though I’m a little skeptical the company will start delivery on time, I’m rooting for them. What do you think? Would you drive this puppy?

Here is a product again that could ruin American economy.I am pretty sure oil companies and US government will kill this pretty soon if this thing will go in commercial scale. This what happened to Toyota RAV-4 electric vehickle and GM electric car who were confiscated from their owner brought to wrecking area. Investor and people who are planning to own this vehicle please dont waste your money on this
As long as this politician and oil companies are control of this government , new technologies will be suppressed. Please view this video “who killed electric car” available in public libraries.Buy SUV this will make Bush administration and oil companies happy.

Y’know… for a 3-wheeled vehicle this actually manages to look more like a partially-constructed Caessna. They couldn’t afford the wings so they squatted the landing gear and ditched the propeller.

The motorcycle loophole in a way is deserved, because if you smack something in this thing, you might as well have cracked your eggs astride a Hayabusa. I’m talking the fly that didn’t see the swatter coming.

Would I drive one? Yeah, what the heck. My curiosity would get the best of me. Would I own one? I really don’t think so.

You can’t talk about three-wheeled cars without bringing the Dymaxion Car into it:

You bet I’d drive one of these things… three wheels or four… If it gets me from point A to point B safely, saves my money for better things than gas, and eases the burden on the atmosphere by not spewing out more co2, what’s not to like??? I killer paint job can make pretty much ANYTHING look cool.
