I know its been a while, so maybe nobody will see this...but:

Jiminy -

Yes, electricity comes largely from burning fossil fuels. However, the amount of polution created is still much much less per mile driven with the Tesla. Power plants are much more efficient than any car engine could hope to be.

Mining may be more harmful if you're comparing the amount of metal mined to a similar amount of oil. However, since the battery pack in the Tesla is designed to last 100,000 miles, you'd have to be comparing the amount of metal in the Tesla's battery pack to (for the Viper) the environmental damages caused by the entire process of turning crude oil in the ground into 10,000 gallons of gas. I'm pretty sure the comparison leans in the battery's favor.

With current technology, there's just about enough arable land in the US to provide us with enough biodiesel to replace the current use of regular diesel, without any left over for replacing gasoline cars with biodiesel ones. With no land left over to grow food. And the polution from fertilizers and pesticides from the massive farms that it would take to produce that much biodiesel would be enormous, and biodiesel burns as dirty as regular diesel does.

yeah ur kinda right JR, but im talking about cars that are actually street legal, not these huge drag racers that can hit a quarter mile in 6 seconds or less. im talkin bout a car that is street legal, and if u didnt read the other comments i have left, i said myself that it isnt the absolute fastest car in the world, im just sayin if it made more hennesseys then it would be in the record books and stuff like that. but at 250 mph, its actually the second fastest (street legal car) in the world right behind that new car that Shelby is making. but its only 1 mph faster. anyways im done with this thing cuz i know if i go on and on about it then some retard will try and come in thinkin "oh my car will kill ur car" and always think the car the have is better. and chances are, they have a piece of shit. all i have is a Dodge Stealth R/T turbo, and i aint complainin. peace out. oh and still.....Viper, hands down haha.

Although I am very fascinated and intrigued by the new design of the Tesla and the electric motor that powers it, this isn't really a fair competition! The Viper is the quintessential American Supercar and rivals some of the best cars in the world for less than half the price. Although the gas mileage on the Viper may be rated at 10 mpg, if you've got the 100K to shell out for either of these cars, then you should have enough to feed it to wherever it needs to go! The Viper, hands down! Although the Tesla can accelerate, it tops out pretty low (I think at like 130 or something). The Viper can thrash it at the track!

The Tesla is nice but the battery thing does offer some problems because as of now I live like 200 miles from the closest Major city so the car basically would be low by the time i get there so it would be a hassle. The Tesla also is a 2 speed i think it only have 1, 2 and Reverse. The charging stations would be hard to find unless you are carrying a booster pack or a plug with you hahaha. But other than that The Tesla is nice.
I would rather have it be a hybrid (efficient and fast)

I'd probably say the Viper because even though it is "harmful" to the environment it gets you where you need to go with a fill-up.

to tell the truth i've allways been a tuner at heart but when it comes to detroit muscle their is no substitude hands down the viper allthough i would not personally purchase a viper before i spent that kind of money on ONE CAR i'd much rather buy me 3 or four mustangs and build the engines up my self and probably smoke both these cars and still have enough money to take the pussy i got in it to get something to eat

I'd have to say the Viper. Don't get me wrong the Tesla has its own ups and downs but it's going to come down to what are you going to be doing with it. Obviously it's not going to be your daily driver so gas mileage and efficiency really isn't a fair argument. These cars are meant for the weekends where they get MAYBE 100 miles a weekend if you're taking a nice trip to the country or something.

If you're planning on keeping it stock it's really gonna come down to preference. Which one looks better? Sounds better? Handles better? Drives better? Take your pick.

If you're planning on upgrading and making it faster it's hard not to pick the Viper. The aftermarket is there. You want 1300 horsepower? Done! It's a no brainer. How do you upgrade an electric car? Hell if I know but I'm sure someone does. Give it a shot and let me know how it turns out.

And to everyone who's arguing about the Viper and every other current exotic for destroying the earth just take a step back and look out the window as you're driving around someday. See alot of these kinda cars? Probably not, maybe one or two on a lucky day but I bet you see a ton of full size trucks and SUV's with their third row seats and torquey V8's. Like I said, fancy cars aren't daily drivers but for a lot of folks big trucks and SUV's are. If there was ever an all-electric horizon I think that's the place to start looking. :)

The Tesla is run on a big computer battery like in a laptop. I saw it on a t.v. show and it sounds like a jet when its accelerating. I love the viper but I think I'd go with Tesla
