That Skyline GT-R is very nice... I mean it's very asthetically pleasing. I always enjoyed the rare sight of craftsmanship on ANY vehicles whether it be Japanese, German, American, and others.... Consider themanufacturer's flagship vehicles whether it's mass-production or a working prototype. That Skyline GT-R is the Nissan's flagship vehicle in the high-performance section, Ford's Taurus SHO is also Ford's flagship in the high-performance section, VW having their Rabbit GTIs/Jetta GLIs with their 2.0L FSI Turbo as their flagship vehicles.... Need I continue? The point is, you cannot appreciate the art when it comes to squabbling about which is the best. Put that to rest.

Speaking of the beasts, there's one prototype that had been built and tested by Volkswagenwerk AG.... 2007 VW Golf GTI W12-650. THIS one is a RWD configuration. Don't ask me why they did, but it's also asthetically pleasing to the motor freaks' eyes... I think this one is a wallet-buster. VW's mum on their specifications, except that this motor puts out 650HP. For real. Since the VW did the first prototype, called W12, in an exotic body which could be mistaken for a Lambo in distant view, putting out 540HP (if my memory serves). This one is also a FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP!

Z06, 300ZXs, GT-Rs, W12s, and all the fine crafted vehicles are always priceless to SEE them!

So, please, shut up and enjoy!

I love the way muscle car supporters instantly pounce on "ricers" and claim they're inferior cars.

FYI - Japanese car makers tend not to use large V8 engines because they can extract more performance from efficient smaller turbocharged engines. These cars are more suitable for consumers in their domestic market, and are becoming a much more attractive option for buyers worldwide, as opposed to much less efficient V8 or V10 engines. European car makers are the same (except for their flagship V10 & V12 engines); they are squeezing more and more power out of smaller V6 & V8 engines, as well as researching turbo-diesel and hybrid technologies in their four cylinder models to improve power and efficiency, as well as keep emissions down.

Forgive me for sounding like a greenie, but you have to look at the big picture. The American Way of low-cost high-output engines is fast becoming, well, unfashionable. People don't enjoy driving gas guzzlers as much as they used to -- petrol prices have risen incredibly over the last decade, and we (still) have global warming to worry about. Slowly, consumers are becoming more responsible, and the carmakers who aren't following suit are suffering. Badly.

Supercars belong on the track, not so much on the road. They are designed as flagship models, a symbol of a carmaker's peak of power and prestige, and subsequently used to make their owners appear more, let's say, "well-endowed." These machines are the centre of attention at motor shows world-wide, bringing publicity to their makers and showing what they're capable of.

And stop comparing the GTR to modified cars. This ain't a modified car, it's stock standard. From the figures I've seen, it's quite capable of blowing away just about every "affordable" supercar on the market (Porsche included). Be reasonable with your comparisons, please, or you'll just look stupid.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is astounding. And just for the record, Corvette's stopped being a "muscle car" a long time ago. Personally, I own a Corvette Z06 and they are very much "supercars" and a great bang for the buck.

With that said the new GTR is very impressive and also an awesome bang for the buck. I have previously owned a Supra, 300ZX, Mustang & Chevelle SS to name a few and I think the whole foreign vs American car thing is silly. I am a car enthusiast, not an american car or foreign car enthusiast. If its nice and fast, I like it. Plain and simple.

ok well everyone is saying american vs jap what douse it really matter? do you like it or even for that matter even have the money to but it? if so why wast your time reading this page? humm.

secondly yea ok american muscle viper, corvett, shelby etc..
thats fine but douse any one even own one that would not traid it for the GTR? honestly if i had a brand new viper i would give it up for a plain GTR 34 not to mention the GTR "for those that do not know gtr 34 is the previous version but if you are here you have better known that right?"

what is the difference between an import and a muscle car? i see none rater we are made to see one by the american car companys that want to brain wash us in to thinking if we buy an import we are not promoting america TOTAL BS FOR THE FACT that ether way america is making the profit. total bs! for those who are so ignerent to think imports are all about nos ha ha NO, it is holywoods' lie in japan racers are not defined by nos but TURBO and HP humm dose that sound familliar? oh yea american muscle

what new american muscle car douse not have a turbo? with the exception of the Supercharger which is no lnger too common that was the only difference not to mention that a well tunned toyota or nissan will effertlessly keep up and beat what ever american car is introduced wile having an engin 1/3 of the size

we should appriciate nissans GTR but as well our own in harmony

if you like it get it

if you cant afford it ride a bike

if you would rather "american BS i mean" muscle cars buy that
""not to hate on american cars but the thought behind it if you read the passage you will understand""

but all in all this was a wast of time because the argument will still go on becuse people are naturally nieve and will fall for anything anyone tells them if it acompanys what they belive although it is totally incorrect.

btw muscle cars can burn rubber. imports cant. awd is bs. the beauty of a car that handles like crap but goes like hell is that you can make it handle. your not buying a car that all the work is already done to. there is no pride in that. its just ego. "oh look at me i have a really expencive car" while the other guy in the lane next to you who gets his hands dirty and loves it puts the hammer down on his muscle car and blows your doors off while leaving behind a 80ft burnout and smoking the streets so bad rich boy cant see and crashes. anyone who is for the imports needs to come to my house so i can shatter your windows just by starting my 700hp meth injected chev 360 V8. its all about the V8. gives you hair on your chest. so dont start shit unless you can back it up with some muscle. the day some exotic car beats a blown muscle car i will... still love the muscle car and hate all imports

what a bunch of bullshit. fucking stupid import cars. this is rediculous. muscle cars are built for torque and show and sound. lets see your stupid tuner put out 2000hp and 2700lbs or raw torque. these stupid tuners have no torque. its all high rpm hp. no low end torque. lets see your tuner pull a weelie. aint gonna happen. torque moves you, horspower doesnt.

To the people who said Vettes/Vipers need AWD.... Do you think AWD will make them handle better? If so you are sadly mistaken. It's in the engineering of the car that makes it do what the makers want it to do. Simply making a car AWD will not let it compete at higher levels it is in the engineering and driver capabilities. American car makers do not know what control is. All they know is that bigger is better slap in a big motor and make RWD and thats all it is.

Also those fully modded out muscle cars that are out on the track how much do you really think they spent on those setups so it can handle DECENTLY. The amount of money I can spend on my S13 compared to those muscle cars it would rip them apart. Its comparing apples to oranges. Foreign engineering is about all around performance. While American engineering is all about the bigger badder side of things. American car makers do not even back their own cars like they say they do.

Muscle Cars = Straight Line Queens...

Foreign Cars = All around performers...

I think that everyone who loves american muscle needs to take a step back and think about why they actually like it. Is it because we are American and we are supposed to support America and whatnot? I am American, and proud of it, I love muscle cars. Z06, Shelby, Ford GT, the list goes on and on and I really like the old muscle like chevelles, and chargers. Now while muscle is awesome and what other people on here have said...that is not all that makes a great car. Okay put it on a straight line and muscle might beat out rice (maybe), but for the price..definately not. And when taken to a track (ie nurburgring..see post below of times) nothing comes close, especially in the price range and the closest american muscle car that is trailing far behind the GTR is the Ford GT and trailing behind that is the vette. Come to think of it those are the only two american cars even given a chance at competing with the fastest 40 or so cars. Most are german/european made which are well over $100K and then there are the actually affordable so called "ricers". I love muscle too but simply put foreign engineering is better. they hold up better, last longer, and are faster than american. I own a 1990 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo. the thing has over 200K miles on it and I have a chip, intake, and exhaust on it, I am pushing 380hp. I can take almost any american car out there besides like corvettes, vipers, shelbys which are all very pricey...oh and i paid $6K for the car. Hows that for cheap performance. Put $6k into an american car and you are lucky to get it to start. I say all this while one of my dream cars is a chevelle ss with a 454 and a 12 bolt posi rear end. So if you say i am bias, think again. And i know that a chevelle could take my 300zx in a straight from 0-60, take a rolling start 60-120+, nissan takes that one. one other thing. not all roads are straight with no bumps and smooth as glass. that being said, the GTR is a better car, just as fast 0-60 than any of the corvettes and vipers and can actually take a corner. Oh yeah and the GTR is also cheaper. By the way. my roommate is from michigan (american muscle heaven) and he wont drive anything other than an american made car. he hated the fact that i wanted to get a nissan. the day i got it i took him for a spin and the second we got home he changed his mind and said he didnt have a problem with me getting that car anymore. I wonder why that is? and he will no longer race me he has a mustang gt and when i ask him to race he says no because he knows he will get smoked by a ricer car. oh he paid over $20k more than i did for his slower car. That is all

Now while muscle is awesome and what other people on here have said…that is not all that makes a great car. Most are german/european made which are well over $100K and then there are the actually affordable so called “ricers”. I can take almost any american car out there besides like corvettes, vipers, shelbys which are all very pricey…oh and i paid $6K for the car. That is all

I would never buy one if i had the money. i would rather burn the money in front of a dealer and laugh in their face! Im american muscle all the way!! why spend ten of thousands of dollars on some import when you can take a mustang or a camero, spend a quarter of the money on it and absolutely smoke any new super car. that includes the dodge viper, corvette Z06 and yes even the Ford GT. especially lambos and ferraris.
