Take it to the Track: Lambo Edition!
By John
Editor
First, let me say I don’t think anyone should do this. But hypocritical as it may be, I found this series of high-speed runs in a Lamborghini LP640 pretty compelling. The shots of it blowing past the stationary cameras are simply mind-blowing, and the sound of that monster V12 on full afterburner gave me goose bumps. The only thing which takes away from this clip is that he’s pulling this stunt on a public road, and putting the lives of innocent drivers at risk. You’d think somebody with enough jingle in their pocket to pick up one of these rockets wouldn’t sweat renting an airstrip for a day, or at least invest some time in finding a more deserted highway—there have to be some better location/time choices for this kind of thing. On the last of the runs, he hits an indicated 219, which he claims is a new record, although it looks like he just tied this one. Record or not, if this dude is ever identified, this footage will definitely earn him some felony charges.

Dude, if I could afford one of those I wouldn’t be driving slow. I can promise you that. The only reason you would buy a car like this is to do exactly what the guys in the video did(drive it fast). 219 is pretty impressive on any road. I’d definately do it myself if I had a car that could do it and a road to do it on.

haha, i drive down that stretch of the 202 pretty much every day on the way to work, and it’s dead during the day. obviously it’s even more so deep into the night. i always wanted somebody like that to fly by me, in either direction, just to experience it…
as far as legality goes, i think the whole ’speed camera’ argument goes into effect here. if he isn’t caught in the act by an agent of the law, there really isn’t much they can do, other than keep a watchful eye on the guy

Here’s my take on the 219 mph video… This Lambo owner and a few friends decided to go and try to beat some speed record of thier own in this car. So they went way in the middle of the night to a rather straight flat area in the roadway that had a onramp/offramp that was closed so they didn’t have to deal with much traffic. In the video it was mentioned that he could’ve gone faster during the 214 run had there not been a car in front of them. From that we can assume the roadway he’s on is NOT closed. I want to quote Car Domain on even thier take for the viewing audience on this clip. “First, let me say I don’t think anyone should do this.” Also, “Record or not, if this dude is ever identified, this footage will definitely earn him some felony charges.” Even I myself have been caught doing way too fast on a public road. I feel stupid now, even though I was getting a rush back then. I’m older and hopefully wiser in saying that anybody that wants to go fast should truthfully do it at a local dragway or closed circuit course that has standby emergency crews in case something does go terribly wrong. This video is definitely missing the “Do not try this at home” messege. I urge everyone to enjoy this film, but be responsible for your own actions. Thank you.

I don’t care if it happened on a street – it was in America. Doesn’t affect me. It was also the middle of the night – the safest time to do this. It was only irresponsible if there was other traffic with a chance of moving out of its lane. Speed limits are for those with crappy Hyundais who don’t indicate changing lanes etc. – i.e. the lowest common denominator. Anyway, whoever said ‘at least he didn’t do it in peak hour’ – there’s such things as traffic jams. Usually this involves traffic being stopped or moving slowly. Try going this fast with stopped traffic – I dare you. And area – get off this site. If you don’t believe in having fun in a car – get lost. Go to some place that doesn’t like cars… how about Antarctica. Join the penguin’s pedestrian council there or something. In other words, GET STUFFED!!!

area, there are plenty of videos such as this all over the internet. so by constantly posting against this video, you’re wasting your time. watching someone else doing a stupid act is one thing, but i will say that “most” people have enough common sense to not do something like this where it would put both themselves and bystanders in any form of danger. there’s nothing you can say or do that will change anyones mind of how they’re going to live/end their life. if they do something stupid and attempt this, oh well, nobodys falt but their own. and yes, things like this should only be attempted on a track. (we all know this though)

If you stop the video at the :30 mark and look in the upper right corner of the screen, you will see he driving on a “Closed” roadway. The cars he is passing are the other guys who came out to film — there are many more than the 2 guys you see in front of the camera.
When he drives past the camera on the road, the revs don’t sound high enough to be near the 8000 limit — he probably was nearer to 100mph when drove by. The low stationary prespective of the camera, at night, depicts great speed when it doesn’t “sound” fast.
It appears from from the before and after odometer readings, that this little adventure pulled 81.1 miles off the warranty. With driving to and from the “Closed” roadway, I guessing it’s about 60 miles of roadwork — probably 30 miles out and back.

Nice rat job red,.
the world is full of rats,.the more you rat people out the higher up the social scale you’re placed. If you can’t rat someone out, then sue somebody because you’re not responsible, or they are,.
hey red wanna see a video of a 95 chevy station wagon at 154mph???

For all those you said “take it to the track”…you should understand that this lambo won’t reach it’s top speed of 219 at the track…it’s not a funny car…
Even though I think this should have been done at an airstrip or at that “never-ending” flat/wide strip (actual name slipped my mind)…where those ppl max out their cars(sometimes featured on SPEED), I still think is was a sick video…
There were no hard turns, nor was there any traffic on the road…all I saw was 1 or 2 cars in the right lane, and not only did he stay in the middle lane, he also slowed down when he saw another car up ahead…
The cops wouldn’t charge him, just from looking seing the this video…
Lastly, PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO COPY THE ACTIONS OF THE GUY IN THE VIDEO…YOU MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY…

The first thing is the video is taken at night, so he is overdriving his lights, but traffic is light, non-exsistant on his side, and he has several people helping him, so I would assume that means radios and the like, so how much real danger is there, other for him and his crew. There is simply no where to drive a car like this at real speed legally, even if you rent a racetrack, as we tend to sue everyone, which has ruined it for everyone. So whats left???? Well this is a great example. Everyone wants to be protected but wants to do extreem acts, cant have it both ways people! Now how does one go about meeting this dude? (I just want to drive his car!)

When i was a kid there was a ugly accident involving a guy in a lambo who antagonized a guy in a Twin turbo corvette. when the ‘vette started to spank the lambo by third gear, the lambo got pissed and swirved into oncoming traffic, killing a family in a volvo as well as hitting the corvette making him crash into a cadillac. everyone died, nobody lived… but the guy in the vette lived, and was charged with some sort of manslaughter charges…. such bullshit. that happened in oceanside, long island.

I live in east mesa, AZ and have traveled this freeway myself. Just that exit is closed but the freeway is open itself which is why there was was scarce other traffic on there.
I met this guy in person briefly at a pre show for HIN, he was nice to all of us gawking at his car and didn’t act all cocky or like a prick cuz he had a better car than us. I don’t agree with taking other peoples lives into his hands though, its just as bad as driving with an extreme B.A.C.

The highway was not closed, it was open and public. The closed sign you see in the video is for an exit that is closed. I drive this stretch of the 202 about 5-10 times per month. The driver and owner is Robert Simyar, a former dentist who now owns/operates a porn site and also runs a gaming site for Might & Magic (or something like that). He lives here in the valley and is a mad douche. Here is is personal Web site (brace for fruity garbage). http://www.simyar.com/about/default.htm

uh-huh, so somebody else survived a crash, so therefore it’s OK? I got news for you, people survive crashes everyday, so does that mean it’s a good thing to do because there is a possibility that people might survive if there is an accident?. With that logic, go shoot yourself in the head, guess what, sometimes people survive that too; does that make it sound like a good idea now? Either way, killing someone isn’t the only bad thing tht can happen. Why do I get the feeling that some genius is going to respond to this with more reasoning inspired by the teenage “won’t happen to me” ego. And who said anything about adolescents getting Lambos? Another newsflash is that Lambos aren’t the only cars that create dangerous situations when they speed on public roads. Every day on the news there are cases of Hondas and Acuras and everything else being driven dangerously and, since they are on the news, you can pretty much guess that the stories don’t have happy endings. There’s a reason why they have speed limits you know, they aren’t just guessing what maximum speed is safe for a particular road. If you are going to respond, please do so by actually arguing against what I have said rather than insinuation all kinds of crap like assuming that I am saying “all kids are going to drive Lambos”, or saying “some other guy did this and he didn’t crash so therefore it’s OK if you know what you are doing” or whatever other brilliant gems you may have.

So that was shot in mesa on the closed 202. My dad is one of the traffic managers for the city of scottsdale. He told me that the cops know this guy, and they know where he lives. They are trying to catch him in the act again, because they can’t do anything about it from just a video. I think the dude has some serious balls thats for sure, but if he was smart he wouldn’t go one mph over the speed limit in that car for at least a year. By that time the fuzz will give up on the chase. This is all coming from the people that are looking for him.

By the way look at the video again.. It wasn’t a closed highway, That was only a closed a exit. Atleast was smart enough to slow down approaching another car.

I think you all need to get your diapers changed. He did it on a virtually careless highway and even slows down whenever he comes up on a car. Really other than speed he’s done nothing wrong and he even was contious enough to care about other drivers on the road. Don’t get your panties in a mix. It’s a video.

Grow some balls fag?!?!? What the fuck kind of response to area’s comments is that? Sounds like just another adolescent running his young, immature mouth about grown-up topics. I hope you were entertained, I’m sure the cars that were flown by at 200MPH in the video were entertained as well! Want to hear sounds like that Lambo at see a machine fly by at those speeds, buy a ticket and go watch an Indy Race! And guess what, the only danger is for the drivers!!!

its funny to see how much coverage this is getting… the 191 pass was done ages ago here in az, and now with 219 it starts getting people to twist their panites… seriously i hope the DPS here in az look at themselves and realize that CAMERAS wont solve speeding. THEY THEMSELVES need to be out on the road. i dont predict them be able to change anyone with anything. theres no faces shown clear enough to identify in ANY video footage, there is no license plates shown in the 219 video. law enforcement trying to make an example of people in this video is pointless, it just makes an example out of the enforcement, and makes me pissed to see what my tax moneys going to.

I am not a huge supercar fanatic. And I definately do not agree with running 219 miles per hour on a strech of public high way… but beyond that, all I have to say is wow. That thing shot past the cameras like a freaking rocket. Just not sure how sensible it is to publish an act such as that… just insane.

this is highly illegal, but if you watch the clip, theres pretty much no traffic. least he had enough sense not to do it at rushhour. pretty good footage. and the cardomain staff do not condone this, they stated that. so how the hell are they responsible for anything? the only ppl that are responsible are the driver and camera man. and all this nonsense about take it to the track, ppl need to open up a track that stays open later. in case you havnt notcied most mayhem happens at 1 AM or later, the tracks close around 11 or 12, too early for most wannabee mario andrettis. and to that guy about inspiring adolescents wow. what a stupid comment that was. most adolescents cant afford lambos in case you havnt notcied, and as an adolescent i can tell you that most of us actually have more sense than you might think as we would not want to go and risk lives or charges on city streets, we are not that stupid. anyway highly illegal stuff, cool vid served as entertainment only i am in no way inspirted to try this stuff. and area needs to be sent to the principals office for a while and needs to be severly beaten and abused so they may not make such stupid statements again.

Actually James, there’s a little place called Bonneville where this type of thing is not only legal, but also professionally supervised and safe! And Jeremy Clarkson did it safely as well, so I’m glad you love “take it to the track guys,” since we actually have a sense about life and the potential dangers that go along with this sort of crap!

O.K. I agree that this should stay on the track or somewhere closed to the general public, but let’s not cast stones on the guy for doing something most of us have done. I’ve hit triple digit speeds several times and I’ve been caught. Every time a hot ride shows up on cruise night the first question usually is “How fast does it go?” and the response usually is something like “I’ve had it up to 140mph, but I ran out of road.” I’m not condoning what this guy did, but most of us have been reckless at times. By the way, James, last I checked, 219mph is perfectly legal on the German Autobahn.

I love “Take it to the track!” guys. There is no public track on the world you can do this legally, so it’s a moot point. So street or track, it’s illegal either way. And this is no record, Jeremy Clarkson of TG hit 220 in an LP40.

That shit needs to stay at the track. Race cars like that are just that, RACE CARS!!! The only reason their listed as street legal is due to a few turn signals, a few restrictions to the engine and exhaust, and the fact that people are greedy! If he crashed, he’d be dead, or worse, killed someone else. You need to take this shit off this website, otherwise, like you mentioned, your hypocritical love for this video makes you no better than the driver of this Lambo!
