Stupid Crap Alert: the Scoot Coupe
By John
Editor
Behold the Scoot Coupe. Now, I’ve bloviated before about how much I think three-wheeled cars totally suck, but I just about had a stroke when I saw this piece of crap. It’s just like a scooter, except slower, uglier, and with an illusion of safety! Yikes! Honestly, who would drive this thing? I especially like that they put a giant stupid roll bar on it, so you either wear a helmet or risk getting your brains bashed in during a fender-bender. Bravo, Scoot Coupe fellas. Best of luck.

Drove the 150cc last week and was impressed. Handles well fun to
drive and dispite what some of you may say, it was well engineered.
I would like to see a larger powerplant perhaps 400 or 500 c.c. as
to be able prolonged highway travels. And a 2.5 gal. tank would
increase it’s range. The reality is ,the day’s of the lead sleds
from Detroit are over. We need to burn less fuel NOW or else your
grand children wont have a chance. Suck it up and start looking at
alternative fors of transportation.

I love it!! I cannot wait until the stupid people who would risk there lives in this piece of crap meet the average stupid drivers on the road with a regular 3000+LBS car, can you say natures why of killing of the weaker of the species.

I notice that none of the above blogs were done this year (7/2008) when gas is $4.00 a gallon. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I commute to work 17 miles one way and fill up my Ford F150 Pickup about once a week at $100 a tank. I can drive this “horrible” vehicle to work all week on 3 gallons of gas ($12. It’s not recommended or built for expressway traffic, but if you can get to work on back roads and streets, this is a no brainer. Show me something Detroit has offered that comes anywhere close to providing what we need in this time of crisis. We all need to be willing to give up the living room, theater surround sound, sherman tank paradygm of cars if we plan to get the oil crisis under control.

I rented one of these and had a blast with it. It had an ipod jack that blasted my tunes out a great stereo, it took corners better than my Porsche and I met more girls in 4 hrs than I do all year with my $50,000 car. It’s made really well, brakes excellent and drives excellent- definetly not a piece of crap! You should drive one and see for yourself. It also goes all day for about 2 bucks in gas, i wouldn’t be caught dead in a girly Miata but these are cool so I’m thinking of getting one for around town driving

OH GOD… it looks like a Miata’s pet. (sorry miata owners. I know I’ll get grief. for what it’s worth they look much better with fender flares)

Anyway, ANYTHING with “SCOOT” in its name has strong marketing potential in San Francisco.

Crazy! What a goofy little thing. Those things belong in campgrounds and on large private properties!

I saw what had to be no older than a 14 year old girl driving one of these in San Diego…. There was a bus behind her than just about ran her over when she stopped quick for a traffic light.

Ugh… There were about 8 different rental places that had these things at the shore last year. Idiots of all kinds were renting them and driving poorly. They’d even rent them to kids, no driver’s liscense required, and they could drive em on the road…
