2010 Nissan Silvia
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The latest issue Japan’s Best Car magazine is confirming that Nissan has a new Silvia in the works. Apparently it’s based on the RWD 350Z platform, and Nissan is kicking around the idea of using–get this–a Renault engine. Let’s just hope they keep the price down and bring it to the States. The Altima coupe is a coupe version of the four-door. The Silvia woule be a perfect fit under the 350Z and GT-R. Nissan has always had three coupes in their history of vehicles. The 200sx, 240sx and 300zx. Now since they have the altima coupe it would be like this (starting prices) 240sx/Silvia ($19K), Altima coupe ($21K FWD), Z ($28K) and GT-R ($70K). Then they have the upmarket version. Remember the 300zx 2 seater and 2+2. well that is why they made the G-coupe ($32K). So for anyone that wants to move upwards on nissan hierarchy they have covered all their boudaries. Which is smart marketing for Nissan/Infiniti.

i found out the price and it said it will be start at 19,000. i don’t think its familiar to 350z. well like highspeedhijinks said altima is like monte carlos silvia is like camaro, 350z is like corvette. but well right now the GT-R is more like corevette than the 350z but i think camaro “SS” is more of 350z so regular camaro is more of silvia if yall agree with me????

looks kind of cool, i ‘d like nissan makes somthing better because silvia is one of the coolest cars in drifting and drifting is the autosport for the future so in 2 years is gonna be bigger than today, and a renault engine? suck’s

The 350Z uses the VQ35DE engine by Nissan.

Doesn’t the 350Z already use a Renault engine?

I see the point you guys are making. I do know the Altima is a front driver so technically I shouldn’t lump it in with the rest. So what your saying is this…. Altima is like a Monte Carlo, Silvia is like a Camaro, and a 350Z is like a Corvette. I guess it works, but do they all have to be freaking silver. Gag me with that silver spoon.

Neil: The McLaren thing occurred to me also, but it stops short of being obvious thanks to the front fender bumps I think. Yeah, the McLaren’s freaking Jimmy Durante nose is usually warmed up to at best, especially with the car’s even more hideous price tag but the SLR is one hell of a performance car from what I’ve read. Too bad all I can do is just read about such cars.

Highspeed- remember the good old nissan days? Skyline/Silvia/Z 3 performance cars. Today- GT-R/Z/New Silvia. Good times. Plus- the Altima Coupe is lame. FWD with no LSD at 270 hp is not a great idea- its more show than performance. And the G35 isn’t in the same boat- its the “Luxury Edition” of the Z.
I think the Silvia looks like the Genesis Concept Coupe.

Looks a little strange to me.. Similar to the new Altima, but the front reminds me of a Mclaren SLR.. which to me is absoloutely hideous. We’ll see if this is one is close to the production model

nice car. The 350Z is not for everyone. This’ll sell.

Yeah, but unlike the Altima it’s RWD, and it will cost quite a bit less (and be more practical) than a 350Z.

With the Altima Coupe that just came out and the 350z allready on the market, who would be looking for a car like this? Would it be nastier than a Z? Then what would people do with a G35 then if it was? Over saturdation by Nissan in the highest degree.
