Mojave Green

David Freiburger, formerly of Hot Rod, just picked up this hacked up Hemi Satellite drag car for $750. He’s planning to race it in the new NHRA Heritage Series. I hope he keeps the paint scheme. Anyway, they’re still out there, folks…

$750??????? For a car already nicely set up for the track… holy crap that’s a deal. Maybe there are other deals out there like this? I’ve always had this need for speed. If I get a track car at that price, hell I could take my urge off the street finally.

Yeah, I know they’re still out there, just wish I could be the lucky one for once. My bro-in-law had two ’66 Stangs he drove to college back in the ’80s. One was a yellow ‘vert, the other a red notchback. Nothin’ special on engines, but I regret letting ‘em slip away. Of all the stories I heard though, none goes down in history to Shelby fans like the famous Sheplar Church Rd. Shelby. It was a rotting GT500 with a NOT FOR SALE sign in the window. Some lucky local guy got it dirt cheap a few years ago after pestering the owner. Then about 3 years ago, there was the lost Boss 351 some guy found in New Mexico. He got it for $5000 just before it was crushed forever. It even had the original engine and trans. Sorry these are all Stangs, but that’s what I hear most of.
