I have a picture of me standing next to this thing at EXPO 86 in Canada.

unless the 1/4 mile flares out to allow for change of angle due to tire slippage thus change of direction anyway… I guess this would be okay at a dry lake bed, but sometimes ya gotta steer at higher speeds to keep from going into a slide.

I wonder how many other concepts had front and rear fixed axles… or something that didn’t allow for change of direction.

What they could have done was to encase the front wheels as they did, but have a section of body around it articulated to rotate with the steering. Tight tolerances between tire and body could have been the same as in the picture, and the car would have the ever-critical ability to turn.

Personally, I think disregarding such essential functions like steering for the sake of putting out a concept for exhibition is quite stupid. This comes off as a very half-baked concept, and it taints whatever else was achieved in the design.

Turning is a huge plus for me. But it looks very aerodynamic.

It would have been amazing if they had taken the covering walls of the side of the wheels and had widened the distance between the two headlights.
