What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Jen

In the course of some drunken New Year’s Eve conversation, I somehow managed to convince a buddy of mine that he needed to get an AMC Eagle. This weekend, I got my payback: I had to go help him look at one he’s thinking of buying, and boy was it ever a depressing mess. Note to self: don’t ever let a 25-year-old sunroof-equipped car sit outside for extended periods in a rain forest. The upholstery was alive with fuzzy grey mould, the wiring was shot, and the outside didn’t look much better. This little SX/4, with only 3000-odd miles on a rebuilt engine, deserves better than this, and the current owner does not deserve 1200 bucks for ruining it.
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

I helped install XM Satellite Radio in a Durango and a Sebring. Due to a faulty cig adapter, the one in the Sebring got fried, so we’ve got to replace that adapter and get a new satellite radio.

Andy:
“Tightened the valve cover bolts, succeded(sp?) in snapping one of the bolts”
um, did you refer to bolt torque specifications for the valve covers? I hope you did because valve cover bolts usually don’t get torqued down NEARLY enough for them to snap.

So, why the mold inside the Eagle anyway? Did the DingDong leave a window open, or dose it have a *gulp* AMC Sunroof?

I sold a friend’s car to a neighbor, both named Frank… both Polish. Making $400 on that sale, which pretty much fell into my lap.

Car related weekend things. I just condemmed a friend of mines 93 Honda Civi EX. 1.6 with 202,153 miles on it. It’s got another rotted fuel line and the power steering lines going into the rack are now spewing from being rotted as well. The car is in awesome running condition but things just keep rotting off. The bumper is fiberglassed to the quarter panels because theres no secure metal to fasten it to. Anyone want it for 500 bucks ?

I adjusted my carb’s float levels
Tightened the valve cover bolts, succeded(sp?) in snapping one of the bolts. also tightened down the intake manifold.
Played with the timing a bit.
Adjusted the choke on the carb.
Added new seals to the air lines. It’s able to hold pressure now, before it would leak about 1-2psi a minute.
Other than that, nothing else. I should add a note: I ddn’t know that these simple things could of affected the performance, but they did in some way. The powerband through 2500-4500 feels much more agressive.
