Yeah, the car was trashed before we got it. However, I will take credit for the hood decorations. Small bit of trivia: The lightning bolts on the hood were done using a stencil I cut from the number panel’s backing paper. Low buck.

That Camaro was torn up and worn out well before Joe (and then Tim) got their hands on it. It was a $500 car BEFORE Joe took it to the Crash-A-Rama. Don’t worry, no decent IROCs were harmed in the making of this *snicker* race car.

While the LeMons race sounds awesome, I’ve been reading about the 24 hours at Nurburgring Nordschlieffe. Talk about an INSANE… truly INSANE race, and that’s just the race. The spectators, all 100 or 200 thousand of them just take the insanity way beyond imagination. People set up camp in the forest in the middle of the race course about a week before the race, tens of thousands of them. Massive amounts of beer and alcohol is consumed. Even strange race rules, like the fact that spectators can assist in getting stranded cars to the pits, or the EXTREME reluctance to red flag the race because of conditions, such as waiting for sero visibility when there’s fog. It’s not unusual at the end of the race for only a couple dozen out of a couple hundred cars to still be running, some of the others can be found in the trees or god-knows where. Some are stripped of parts when the driver leaves the scene… it’s just freaking completely crazy.

Playing GT4, it may be a pretty faithful recreation of the ring, but there’s no backstory. What an eye opener.

Next time I’m visiting family in Germany, I gotta try and time it with the 24 hours at Nurburgring. I just wish I could drive in it, but seeing it would be good enough.
