Attack of the Clones!

If you’ve ever looked enviously at commercial loading zones while searching for parking, then camouflaging your vehicle with corporate branding might seem like an attractive option. Check out how successful this dude has been with his Telestar Logistics experiment! But not everyone copping logos has such benign intentions. Right now, so-called "cloned" vehicles are one of the smuggling world’s hottest trends. Clones are painted to resemble fleet vehicles for Wall-Mart, FedEx or other companies, and crooks like them because they presumably attract less attention than their blank brethren. Now, you have to hand it to these crooks—it’s a slick plan! Just look at this side-by-side comparison. How the hell is anyone supposed to tell them apart? So far, cops in Texas have found a faux FedEx truck hauling 1300lbs of weed—um, I’ll sign for that—and perhaps most hysterically, a bootleg border patrol van carrying illegal immigrants. Read the whole story here.

God help the dumb criminal who makes a Dunkin Donuts Delivery truck clone. He’d have more cops and fatties on his tail than he’d know what to do with.

I don’t condone this kind of thing, but hey.. you have to admit. It’s one hell of an idea.

I think one company will be completely immune to having their vehicles cloned… Waste Management.
