Cute Product Alert: Hydrogen Is For Kids, Too!

I remember seeing these in the gift shop at the Studebaker National Museum, and not being able to believe my eyes. But why shouldn’t I? Hydrogen power is pretty scaleable, it turns out. The H-Racer is a tiny RC car whose hydrogen fuel cell powers an electric motor. The kit even comes with its own little hydrogen fuelling station, which in turn is powered by a solar cell. To top it all off, according to the site, the H-Racer is the world’s "best selling hydrogen fuel cell product." Not bad, considering its range is only 100 feet on a tank of fuel. Check out this video of the H in action—I especially love the blue disco-strobes that come on when the fuelling station is percolating: it’s how you know it’s working!

Making hydrogen at home is actually fairly simple. A friend of mine makes his own and uses it in his Tracker. Using hydrogen as a suppliment he has been able to get 100 MPG plus with a mostly standard fuel injection engine. Wanna try it? Check out his you tube vids http://www.youtube.com/daddyo44907

My question is, if an average home mechanic can run a regular truck on hydrogen why is it taking Detroit so long?
