Tokyo Express

As expected we had a great time with Nitto at the Tokyo Auto Salon–saw many great cars and even ran into a few good friends. I’m sure you’d rather hear about the cars, so here are some of the highlights.
Subaru had one of their new WRC rally cars on display. We think this was actually a mock-up of sorts, as the windows were blacked-out. The spaces between the wheel spokes were blanked-out as well. Even so, it looked pretty cool. Be sure to check out the rest of my photos!
We have all seen drift cars, but how about hardcore drift r/c cars?
There were three darlings at this year’s show: GT-R, STI and Evo.
These three Mazda Demios were aimed squarely at the female buyer. Each one was shown with a matching clutch (as in a purse, not the thing living next to your flywheel).
Um, well, yeah. Guess someone digs it. Hard to see in this photo, but the light blue van has a full cage.
JDM Civic sedan. Check out the headlights. Yep, they’re different than the ones we get here.
Once again, someone had KITT on display–and I mean the real KITT, not the Mustang one.
I love Honda Beats. Not sure I dig the treatment this one got, however.

The RC car was painted that way. Guess it’s supposed to be rust/primer.
