DeLorean Stars in VW Spot

Given that the voiceover at the end of this commercial is in Spanish, and the weird, kind of Mentos vibe of it, I’m guessing this vintage Beetle spot was done for South America. While it’s funny, I have to say I feel a little sorry for way the poor DeLorean is portrayed. And what’s with the 007 theme? I can’t imagine Bond’s copyright owners would license it for something this cheesy.

Funny!!! I think the point of it was that, even james bond need a “Simple” car to drive sometimes. Not that I have anything against the Delorean or the VW. cknarf I think explained it better than I just tryed too.

Bond was well known to use technology exactly as needed, when needed, but this was a decent spoof for way back when. Seems kinda ridiculous seeing Bond getting into a bug, unless it was one of the comedic moments in one of the Bond movies.

i think the commercial was comparing newer cars with many options and confusing control panels to the simple, easy to understand VW bug.

Last I remember, the most affordable car Bond drove was 71 Mach 1. And why does VW have to knock the DeLorean so hard? The DeLorean was way ahead of its time design wise even though it was lacking a strong torquey powerplant.

They even found a dude who really looks like Roger Moore. Someone put a lot of effort into that commercial.
