That list is a joke! Rare doesn't equate desireable; more often than not rare simply means nobody wants the damn thing, now or in 25 years. People still have the hots for early Mustangs and Camaros, almost any old Corvette, and '55-57 Chevys. They were lusted after new and have never gone out of style. The XLR is nothing but a tarted up, heavy and ugly C6 Corvette with a less powerful engine; the "V" gives it enough extra horsepower to run with a standard C6 - for twice the price. Who craes!Ditch the S5 and if you want German put the R8 or a Porsche GT3 on the list. The smart? Gimme a break. It's a breakthrough car for the US but will longterm be more of a curiousity than a collectible. The new WRX STI is better car mechanically than its predecessor, but it lost all the attitude and appeal with the new skin. You gotta be smokin' crack to put the Honda 2000 CR on a top 10 collectibles list - damn nice car but too commonplace and not a great street car cuz the engine has no low end or mid range torque. The Solstice/Sky sisters have no place on the list; the latest Miata (or whatever alpha-numeric Mazda calls it now) is a way better car. And the Charger, well if you give collectible votes to the car that looks like it came out second best in a head-on collision with the ugly tree, then and only then does it belong It's a good performer but only a few nutcases collect "ugliest-cars-of-the-year." The new Challenger SRT8 belongs on the list. So does some variation of the Ferari F430, the new Camaro SS (when it comes out later this year or early next and, of course, the current Viper.

I don't have any particular hard-on with this list, but as a old man I can tell you with CERTAINTY that the last three or four years of Chevy Monte Carlo's will be VERY collectable. They will replace the 57 chevy. (you read it here first)

I would think the Dodge Viper and Plymouth/Chrylser Prowler should be on the list.

I think the list is right-on with the XLR at the top.

Another soon-to-be is the '81 Eldorado with the V8-6-4 engine...Cadillac's blackest eye in it history.

I'm about to sell one of those, myself. See it here....

Enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work.

So how you are gonna tell me that the Audi S5 is a better choice then the R8, or the Pontiac Solstice is better than the porsche GT2, Ferrari Enzo, or my personal favorite the Noble M12 GTO, this list is comical and looks like they placed all the car choices in a bingo hopper and chose them randomly. I haven't even brought up the new Skyline, Aston Martin, or Bugatti

The Solstice is cool, but NOTHING with a Saturn label will ever be a collector car.

im not a huge fan of the smart car but i guess it can be a colector later on in life

i would take off the audi first of all because even though its a good car, it wont last 30 years. id put the evo on that list, and even wrx is an insane car its just that i dont think it will be a "collector"
