most of the time i dont pump my own gas but mainly because ive only ever gotten gas in my home town and i talk to my friends who are working at the gas station while im getting gas lol. i wouldnt trust those robots to not scratch my car because if it has to be programmed to know what cars look like to not scratch them, chances are its going to be for newer cars and seeing as my cars 21 years old ( yay the 80′s)… well i think id go to a different gas station. i dont think there are any laws in canada saying you cant pump your own gas.

I don’t see why gas stations would want to deal with the increased complexity of maintaining a robot attendant, except in areas where you are not allowed to pump your own gas, such as New Jersey.

I live in NJ… and will actually try to not get gas in this state in my Spec V… yay for Delaware! Stupid idiots have done so much to my daily driver… leaning on it, scratched it, smeared their greasy lil’ hands on the paint… and for some reason they don’t know how to screw my gas cap back on, and to top it all off it takes longer to wait for some asshat to pump it for me than it would take if I was to do it. I HATE people pumping my gas. Stupidest law ever.

Ya the first time one of my friends when to Oregon he got out of his car and went to grab the nozzle and apparently the attendant ran out and started yelling at him telling him it was illegal and all this BS, from what I heards he wasnt too nice to the attendant and so it took something like 10 mins to fill his car since the guy left the nozzle in and walked away. I think it’s lame that they do that thought…. thank god I live in a state where I can pump my own gas.

There’s Irony for me, living in Southeast Pennsylvania and working in New Jersey. Gas is a good bit cheaper in Jersey, but I really hate not pumping my own gas… unless it’s 10 degrees outside.

Jersey is one of the last states where I guess you gotta get a gas pump opertor’s PHd to operate the pump? What sucks is that I have to wait longer in Jersey and well I don’t trust others not to scratch or get gas on my ride.

In Oregon, you can’t pump your own gas, just like New Jersey.

I just hover and watch. The attendants get the message. I don’t have problems with damage or anything.

The biggest hassle is waiting when they are really busy.

However, I buy most of my gas at one local station, and they are great people. It’s a family run business, so I don’t mind too much.

That robotic arm would scare the hell out of me. I can see it ripping the rear plate off of my car while trying to get to the cap.
A robot isn’t going to care if it damages your car.

Since I don’t live in Jersey, I don’t have to use station attendants. However, I think it would be fun to have one try and find my gas filler, since it’s behind my flip-down liscence plate.
