Are You A Master Mechanic or a Squeegee Tech?

By Jen

Get a load of Summit Racing’s ego-deflating tech quiz! Apparently, you have to be a Crew Chief to get a perfect 10—even Rob’s Mopar buddies are reportedly struggling with it—and according to a certain unnamed CarDomain staffer, if you score lower than a 5 the program starts seriously making fun of you. SuzyBruisy scored a modest 7, which makes her "a serious Gearhead" who is "prepared to do routine jobs" without intimidating anyone too much. Woo-hoo!

Give it a whirl and let us know how you do!

I got a 8 out of 10
what is a VVL????

Your Score of 8 out of 10 makes you the
Master Mechanic !

When the engine’s spitting, smoking or sparking,

when the oil’s burning and the crankshaft needs turning,

you really wrench the race car !

Well the first time I took it I got 5 out of 10 calling me a “Squigey Tech”. Not liking that I took it one more time and got 7 out of 10 and was called a “Gearhead”. The questions change every time. The first test asked me the tensil strength of Chomoly… why the hell would I know that.

First time I got a 5 (lol) and the second one I got an 8. But my favorite question was this: “What is the function of chrome valve covers?” Answer: To scare squirrels away from your intake

Good stuff.

Your Score of 7 out of 10 makes you a serious
Gearhead !

Get out the hand cleaner. You’re gonna be elbow-deep in engine.

You’re knowledgeable and prepared to do routine jobs.

I took four of the tests in a row. I got a 9, 10, 9, 9. The 9’s stand for master mechanic and the 10 is a crew chief. Those quizzes are pretty cool.

Don’t look now but I got a 6 – somehow I don’t think I’m within one gearhead point of Suzy!

I got a 7 out of 10 and to the extent that I’ve worked on my car (i.e., swapped out light assemblies), I’d say the score isn’t all that telling :)
