Vigilante Makes Crosswalk, Goes to Jail.

By John

After local authorities refused repeated requests to paint a crosswalk in front of a stop sign near his house, Whitney Stump took matters into his own hands. Using a spray can and white roller paint, he made a crosswalk himself, which pissed the city off. Big-time. After officials found out, Stump was charged with criminal mischief, and locked up for ten days. While it’s understandable that government agencies don’t want people painting all over their roads, criminal mischief hardly seems like the right charge here. If anything, it seems vandalism would be most appropriate, as modifying something to compel people to obey the law seems neither criminal nor mischievous. Get more info from the local ABC affiliate.
