High-Dollar Lowster

Meh, personally I think you could buy (or build) a heck of a lot more car for 9 grand—(like, one with an engine in it, for example. Or steering)—but I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about the Lowster kit. I guess it could be a good idea if you had money to burn and you wanted to make sure everything was put together basically right: it’s got the 4-link front suspension which I’ve been told is the only truly safe and durable setup for these open-wheeled tubs. But I’m not so sure I trust that V-shaped axle. I’m not hatin’ though—would you buy it?

acctually is it just me or does the guy looked like hes photoshopped into the car. Thats pretty sad if they couldnt convince someone to sit in there for a picture let alone drive one.

No the proportions are goofy, and its engineered by a 5 year old. You can build a Rat Rod yourself for 9,000 better than that and still have a few grand left over.

I could do so much more for 9K.

The body looks like an HVAC guy made it.

Nobody appreciates simplicity more than I do. I’m a mechanical designer by trade, and have seen needless complexity almost on a daily basis. That part of me thinks that this design is akin to a ‘design enema’. Everything has been flushed, and all that is left cannot be eliminated or simplified further.

The other part of me is winning though. This thing is well… too simple? There’s just so little to it. It lacks substance associated with and even present in open-wheeled ratrods of yesteryear, engine exposed, roofless and all. This is just a box with 4 wheels and the most interesting thing is a V shaped bar.

I’ve thought of the Ariel Atom as a salt-of-the-Earth, barebones dream ride. Even though it’s a lot more complicated, I guess I’ll draw the line at that. There’s just not enough to this thing, in every sense.
