This Just In: New on the Net

It was kinds of a busy afternoon, so I’m going to get right to the action. If you miss the little intros I generally write for this post, don’t worry, you’re alone. Here’s the news:

  • Bertone has made some of the world’s most beautiful cars. It’s apparently also made some poor financial decisions. A month from now, we’ll know whether the storied company will continue to exist. Auto Week
  • Captain Obvious must be in charge of the White House press office. Today, it released statements saying the Big Three are facing  "difficulties," and that GM’s 38 billion dollar loss was "significant." Um, just how much do those brainiacs make? Detroit News
  • Now, I realize this Volt commercial aired during Adult Swim, but yuck, yuck, yuck. If these are the kind of spots we’re going to see for electric cars, I’d prefer we all drove coal-powered locomotives. CarScoop
  • As I reported the other day, things aren’t looking good for Mercury. Ford is now answering questions about the brand’s future with bizarre astronomical assertions. Winding Road
