        &lt;p&gt;I rattlecanned my Formula when I was about 20 (abt 1985)... in Krylon gloss black. Went over the car at least a few times, again and again, at that point not expecting a consistent finish. The main thing was to get a thick coat that didn&#039;t have runs if at all possible. Used many, many cans of paint. After a few days, I wet sanded it, then used rubbing compound. Re-shot a couple areas where the black was too thin and wet sanded/compounded again to even things out. After that I used polishing compound and finally waxed it a few times.&lt;br /&gt;

The results were pretty amazing. Inended up adding (2) white 9&quot; wide stripes the whole length of the car, oriented with the Ram Air scoops on the hood.&lt;br /&gt;
