I have numbers like that stuck in my head as well, although mine are not just automotive numbers. I had a roommate in college who was a rave DJ who once saved a receipt for gas because the pump stopped at $8.08 (as in the Roland 808, father of modern drum machines). I have noticed things like cereal boxes with the same liters of product as different engines I have had in cars. (eg my 4.9 liter V8 Buick and my 5.2 liter 318 Dodge Ram.)

I think its just safe to say that we have cars on the brain. That and our brain is capable of storing hundreds of otherwise meaningless 3 number combinations.

It seems every hotel room I stay in is some Jeep straight-six engine's displacement: 258, 232, 242. Though once I stayed in a room 327.

Kinda like 225, 318, 340, 345, 440? OH,OH, how about 302, 305, 428 and what about 400!?! Then there are military folks, 1100, 1200, 1600. Can't help it, I work on glorified clocks for the NAVY.
