Yes, bring back the Trans Am series because American motorsports needs something great, something to knock NASCAR off its pedestal. I’d like it best if they brought it back exactly as it was with the ponycars from the late 60s and early 70s. However, using only classic cars would make it much more expensive to get into and would, in my opinion, hurt its image as a real racing series. So, why not use our new sports cars? Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, the new GTO (even if you don’t like it, V-8, rear drive, it be good for this), maybe even the Caddilac CTS-V and the new Charger. Basically, as many freaking V-8 rear drive ponycars/musclecars as can be found. As for the tracks, Sebring, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Infineon; Daytona, Talladega, and Indy all have infield road courses, Virginia Int’l Raceway, all the various street courses that CART used to use like Longbeach and Detroit. Anyways, that’s what I hope to see. Any additional comments or annotations to my post would be much welcomed.

Being in the old school muscle car market, the company I work for is helping sponsor a Time Attack style series to bring back some of the old Trans-Am style cars and give those that own them a chance to get ‘em back on the track. Currently tying into the existing Redline Time attack series, we’re sponsoring classes strictly for pre’73 and pre ‘86 V8/V6 American Iron Muscle Cars. Classes are set up for stock, modified and unlimited categories, with races being run throughout the country (check out the http://www.redlinetimeattack.com for more info. The next race we’re sponsoring is at California Speedway, July 19th and 20th, but if your interested in seeing this type of racing at one of the other events or interested in participating with your own old school muscle car (driving instructors are available at the track for those that don’t have much track experience), send me an email or contact the guys at Redline Track Events.

yeah domestics are done… thats why the Charger, GTO, Challenger, Barracuda, Camaro and Mustang are making combacks, but yeah domestics totally suck. i own a mustang and i think autocross and roadracing are cool and plan on doing some of both.

and i definately think they should bring trans am back, just gut the interiors and put them on the track. theres nothing stock about “stock” cars, and i agree that theyre boring.

Hate to break the news to you guys but Adolf(NASCAR)Hitler…sorry NASCAR…I believe is going to start a developmental series with the pony cars(Mustang/Challenger/Camaro)Basically a stepping stone to thenow called Nationwide series.As far as NASCAR what happen to qualifing to get a spot in the race.The Indy 500 has done qaulifing same for over 90 years.Hey if Helio isn’t fast enough guess what,he packs the hauler and goes home.Brickyard…totally opposite.If you don’t have a multi-car,million dollar team w/ sponsor…why show up?NASCAR bring back REAL qualifing!!!It’s all about put up or go home,that’s what fans want to see.If you do,more people would be drawn to the series and your Chase to the Cup would be more exciting.

Its amazing how many ppl get on these things and have to call one another names. Its funny going thro these things and reading what others post about it. But mann, seriously all you guys need to grow up and stop calling ppl names and things on here.

Anyways, i think it would be cool to see these cars racing again, but now its all about the money, all those cars are worth alot.

Hey Rice And Chopsticks, I don’t believe I said anything against you, so grow up. Your 9th grade teacher will give you detention if he catches you posting online during class.

It wouldn’t be like LeMans, because the cars should be left pretty much stock, with just some engine and suspension tweaks. The only stock part of LeMans cars are the car’s shell, and that’s a bit of a stretch. Seriously, take the stock car, throw a roll cage in it, limit engine size to however much they feel, do some suspension mods to it and off you go. I’m not saying that the American cars will destroy everything. Personally, I think the Mustang and Challenger are ugly, and the Camaro is too little, too late. I’m just saying that if Detroit really feels the need to prove themselves to the world, throwing all those other cars in would do it, and just for curiosity’s sake, I’d like to see what they could do against the world.
