Are You Into Car Clubs, Or Are You a Lone Wolf?
By Ron

I have to say that I am looking forward to March, when my Chrysler club will be holding its annual car show; it’ll be my first time attending the show as a member. However, it may also be my last. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a great club, with all the usual membership advantages: it’s a fantastic source of like-minded people, vehicle information, parts, and discounts. Plus it’s raised a lot of money for needy charities. The only disadvantage that I can see with car clubs is the politics. According to a reliable source, this is what’s currently tearing the Victorian BMW car club apart: the governing committee is unable to agree on how the club should be run and the direction it should take. Similarly, I have come to a crossroads with my club over its refusal to promote the kinds of events I enjoy most. The turning point for me was at the end of last year when I realized that they weren’t going to promote the Victorian Kustom Nationals. Now if you could go to a show and take your car to do circuits around a world-famous race track, wouldn’t you want to publicize it among your club membership? According to one of my friends, I don’t need a club because I’m a "lone wolf" when it comes to cars and car shows anyway. So what’s your car club done for you lately? Or are you also a lone wolf?

I already belong to several non-car clubs so I do not have the time to join any car clubs. Even with the extra time I wuld probably stay a lone wolf. I am not a big “play by silly rules” person.

I use forums and the internet for tech questions, but really I’m a lone wolf.
