Snake Straight from Y2K

Hemmings Motor News
I dont think the (somewhat oxymoronic) term "instant collectible" really came into being until the mid-1970s, when, for a number of reasons, people started to buy new cars and stuff them away in climate-controlled garages. The idea is to just sit on the car, not drive it, and, theoretically, watch it appreciate in value. But what fun is that?
The only upside is that if you missed out on your chance to buy such a car when it was new, youll likely get the chance down the road to buy a showroom-fresh example. Such is the case with this 2000 Mustang Cobra R, one of just 300 such factory-built race cars that Fords SVT built with the 385hp DOHC 5.4-liter, six-speed manual, independent rear suspension and absolutely no extras–no A/C, no stereo, no cruise control, not even a rear seat. Hemmings Muscle Machines has all the details and driving impressions on the Cobra R in its March 2007 issue. This one in particular, No. 37, has had only one owner and shows just 38 miles on the odometer. Judging from the plastic still on the driver’s seat, it’s probably never turned a wheel in anger. Thus, a perfect starting point for racing; after all, youre darn sure the previous owner never messed with it, never changed a thing, never did that crappy radio install that you always find in used cars. No price listed, but consider that they sold for just under $55,000 new.

omg, seriously, mustangs are fast cars, putting it in a garage, would just put it at risk of, 1:a rat making a nest in your engine somewhere,2:if u dont run a car for a long time, it pretty much dies,3:being called a loser lol, drive it and race at the track or hell the streest, that thing could take out any little teenage ricer that revs at u at a stop light thinking he’s hot shit.

I agree that the body style on this type of Mustang is just ugly. That entire era of Mustangs I hated that style. It is just plain, corny. I never drove a mustang but I hear they do not handle well on turns and whatnot. But, if your not even going to drive it, i guess the handling or anything else does not matter. Save money and buy mustang toys for your shelf, shiiiiit.

To Baron Von Natschke the fox body mustangs were the worst body style. And JAY is just saying that cause he has no idea how it handles and he is probably saying that cause in drove it in grand turismo or something.

im sure it handles an assload better than Jay’s riceburner civic. when i say this, i dont mean all civics are rice burners, there are fast ones that can actually do autocross damn well. with that independent rear suspension im sure it wouldnt do well at drag racing, so real racing im sure it would do fine.

You’re just being pussies, all of you. “Oh it’s limited edition, there’s only 300, let’s be douchebags and put it in our garage and not enjoy it.” FUCK YOU!! It’s a car, drive the fucking thing, that’s why they’re built, not to sit around to fucking drive. Now get out there and put some miles on that damn thing.

That thing is one of a kind, i wouldn’t ruin it by changing anything in it, i would leave it stock and drive it only on the track on weekends in the summer. B/c that this is going to sell for a ass load at the barret/Jackson auction one day.

That is the old ugly body style, he should trade it in for a new one. Out of all the different mustangs, that was the worst body style.

@Jas: it’s actually HARD to do burnouts in it, the traction is unbelievable–read my Hemmings story.
But they look like this when you succeed:

I agree with Steve, that car needs to be driven. Idk how people can buy a sports car and just sit on it for 30 years then sell it. Driving it, blowing the tires off all day, racing it, and just having fun with it is what having a bad-ass car is all about.

Are you sure it’s not a replica? I’ve seen Cobra R kits installed on even V6s. Hey, if it’s real though, upload a sound clip cause I’ve never heard a 5.4 N/A out of an R.

There’s one guy down in Tennessee I think who has at least 15 Fox body ‘Stangs including a ’79 Pace Car Replica, triple white GT ‘vert, canary yellow ‘vert, 7up promotional car, ’93 Cobra, and an SVO all with less than 1000 miles. Some have never even been driven and some like the Pace Car have parts still in the box. All live in a climate controlled room along with various showroom promotional pieces with special lighting that eliminates UV rays. I admire the effort to preserve history, but I’d like to have a little fun. Bout the ’00 R, I’ve loved it since day one. LOVE to own one someday.

Jim, you’re thinking speedometer, however they typed Odometer… you know the thing that tells you how many miles you’ve actually traveled in your vehicle?

It shows 38 miles on the speedometer? This can’t be a Mustang then… nice car, though!
